I used to work in a bridal store and i had a few brides every once in awhile that were very stuck on the idea that their dress was suppose to match the bridesmaid dress. Like if they had lace, the bridesmaids had to have lace. if it was flowy chiffon, the bridesmaids were chiffon. some even had the same kind of cut to the dress so it was almsot like the bridesmaids were a colored less formal bride. So i ask is this a normal thing that most brides do? does your dress match your girls?
Heres my dress and my girls. it has lace in them both but thats about as close as they get.

Stock photo of my girls’ dresses. MOH will be in the opposite; black chiffon with blue belt
Neither dresses really “match” each other. I went with what I liked, and what they liked, and when we put them together (My MoH and I stood next to each other in the dresses) it looks good. But not matchy-matchy.

@Nel13: LOVE your dress and bridesmaids dresses.
They are going to look gorgeous together:)

Mine aren’t matching. I just chose styles that shared a vintage look…as my dress is a bit vintage. However, my dress is beaded lace over tulle, and their dress is dupioni. My dress is long…theirs are short.
Here’s my dress:
And here are theirs (they’re all wearing different dresses in the same color, designer, and length):

My BMs dresses are nothing like my dress at all 🙂

I THOUGHT the materials needed to be the same to go together. I posted about a year ago to see what brides and their bridesmaids who have different fabrics from each other looked. It looked great. So my dress was satin and the BMs dress was chiffon. I did, however, keep their dresses simple with a little beading. I did this with the FGs dresses too.

Nope, nothing alike. My dress is tulle and lace. My girls are wearing chiffon. I wanted them in lace but we had trouble finding a lace dress that was a) inexpensive and b) also came in maternity sizes for my pregnant bridesmaid. So chiffon it is 🙂

Oh crap is it supposed to match lol? Mine will be made out of lace, tulle and organza and theirs will probably be made out of satin.
@princessggg: Is that the Alfred Angelo Snow White or Cinderella?
@jbbs1222: LOVE your dress and BM dresses! Where are you getting your BM dresses from, if you don’t mind my asking?

My dress has diagonal sort of ruching from the waist down and so does my MOH’s dress. That’s about the only similarity – my BM’s dress has a sash instead of the ruching. The material is different too. I just wanted them to find something they liked!

My dresses are different fabric, but the neckline & back kinda mirror each other I think
