my FI thinks he can put an outfit together better than I can. hehe
soemtimes at stores he just whips up a few pieces...put them together, and I must admit...he can put together a cute outfit!
Nah. T is a simple guy. If there aren't checks and stripes he's ok. He doesn't really "get" too much fashion stuff. He's straight out of an LL Bean/Polo catalog and isn't interested in terribly trendy stuff. He wouldn't know if skinny jeans were in or hip huggers.
His mottos is "if it's hot, I think it looks good".
me? I'm at home in yoga pants or sweats. He jokes and says he has to take me out to dinner so I'll dress up. lol!
For the most part, he's great. Some things I wear he likes and I don't, others I love and he doesn't. He majored in art, so he's great with color pairing!
My SO actually has really good taste...and not just in women! :P Seriously though, the man has an aesthehic eye. He hasn't failed to impress me with his fashion choices yet. Too bad I don't have the cash to bring him on shopping trips, I totally would!
one thing that I HATE about his idea of clothing has to do with fit
sometimes he tries on pants and they look fine, but I know they are tight around his waist. I can't STAND that...especially on myself. I like to be comfortable. So I ask him...are you comfortable in them? And he says, " I don't care...do they look good?". And we just keep going back and forth. Whats the point of buying something that's uncomfortable. You can find something that looks good AND is comfortable. He doesn't get that.
Like about shoes...I love shoes, but I am not gonna go crippled over them. I will not bust myself in high heels because they look sexy. I don't give a crap...I won't be limping all around town. However, he thinks I need to worry less about comfort and more about "the look"
lol..seriously...issues
The FH knows what flatters me and actually has affected my wardrobe in crazy ways. I was always a sweatshirt and baggy jeans that hide my body sort of girl b/c I didn't want to go to the other extreme and wear too tight trashy clothes. The FH is quite honest on what flatters me best and I really really appreciate that... altho sometimes he is a typical guy and completely clueless... lol :)
lol. Hella no, I am a little bit of a fashionista (or I like to think so! ;) ) and I constantly get "what is that on your head?" or "why are your shoes so high?" or....
You get the idea. I have reformed his wardrobe considerable since we met :)
Mine gives terrible fashion advice, but that's because what he *thinks* he likes are clothes that look like they should be worn by the Earth Mother (loose, flowy, undyed, etc.). Everything he picks out for me when I'm crazy enough to take him shopping looks awful on me!
Besides, it's not what he *actually* likes. On the hanger, he likes the hippie stuff. But his eyes still fall out of his head when I *actually* dress up. ;)
ahaha I ran into this problem shopping with FI this weekend. I needed work pants and none fit right, but he thought they all looked great. especially the ones that were way too tight on my butt.
Basically if I wear a low but shirt I get a compliment from him. He thinks my clothes are too bright...haha. That's cause he wears brown, black and gray all the time. I'm slowly working color into his wardrobe...haha. But for the most part, he doesn't understand fashion trends. He's a typical guy.
Lol, no. Him and fashion don't mix. Honestly me and fashion aren't buddies either. The most he does is give me a look when I'm wearing sweats or pj's and he wants to go out a "are you really going to wear that out of the house" look. Kinda cracks me up.
Mr. Taffy is actually pretty good! Although he always wears one of a few "uniforms", they always look great! He has about five times the amount of shoes and clothes as I do, and I went to fashion school!!!!
NO! Just tonight I was ready to throw a shoe at him.
We're packing for a friend's wedding in California. I pulled out all the dresses in my closet to try on.
I'm over 7.5 months pregnant and didn't want to buy a maternity dress, so I was hoping to make something in my closet work.
So I put on a dress made of stretchy material. I think it looks good (as good as you can when you're plus-size and pregnant), but I decide to run it by the husband.
I ask, "Does this make me look like I've got a fat roll or that I'm pregnant?"
His reply, "It could be pregnancy belly."
Could be? I'm almost 8 months pregnant!!
Now I'm trying not to have a complex about wearing the dress to the wedding.

So, I bought a new shirt yesterday without trying it on. I got it home and tried it on. It was a little too tight across the stomach, so I decided to return it. However, when I had it on, The Hubs said "Wow, you look great!", to which I responded "Um, are you blind?!" I was kind of shocked that he couldn't tell that the top was too tight. I told him that it wasn't going to kill my self-esteem if he just said something like "hey, hon, that shirt isn't the most flattering thing on the planet!" However, he said that he thinks I look great in everything (sweet, but not helpful!), so he can't really be partial.
I'm just wondering if anyone else's SOs can offer constructive criticism when it comes to fashion? I'm not talking body critiques, but even super models can wear things that aren't flattering. It's also not that my husband doesn't have a great sense of style--he always dresses great. I guess he's just blinded by "Husband Goggles"? ;) Anyone else have this problem?
