Since we all praise The Bee I was just wondering if anyone's SO has a similar site *(not necessarily content-wise)*.
My SO does!!
He spends quite a bit of time on Ultimate Metal Forums and gearslutz (both for music recording info).. he's a registered member but doesn't post...
I asked him the other day why he didn't post, and he just said, "There's just not anything I need to say."
I could not do that here. Oh wow I would go so stir-crazy... I only lasted a few weeks of prowling the boards before actually joining and posted the very first day.
Maybe we're more friendly about newcomers.
Yup! Bleacherreport.com, he writes articles and argues with people about baseball through comments.
DH can't even turn on a computer, but I guess he kind of has something similar, it's called the pub, LOL.
It's kinda funny but I got my FI hooked on pinterest! He is pretty much addicted now. It started out with him just posting guy stuff like cars, motorcycles, humor, and DIY house projects but he now has a wedding board and has been pinning cute wedding ideas! He's too funny.
Haha. Yeah my SO always makes fun of the people who don't know anything about recording or have terrible bands... I can hear him from across the house laughing histerically. At least he doesn't post for instances like that as I ooze a passion for tolerance.
CycloneReport.com, it's a set of boards for fans of Iowa State University athletics. He's on it at least 3 or four times a day.
It's some car forum, not sure what it is called though.
Normally he doesn't, but I guess since I'm blogging now he's super bored. :-P He's been posting on stack overflow a lot. It's a geeky site where he helps answer programming questions. You get "reputation" there too (or something, I don't completely understand it), so if you provide useful information and they find your answer to be the most helpful you get bumped up.
Wow. That made no sense at all. Anyways... yes, yes he does. :-P
Hahaha! Love it! My SO would be the same if we had enough friends in the area for him to go with... but he does love the guys days at the shooting range.
Other than fantasy football and basketball bracket whatevers, no. He's barely ever online, he didn't even know I'd created him a facebook until he'd had it for over a year.
YES YES YES! He is always at the android forums. He usually has at least a page open on his computer, he is always using the app/mobile website.
@theredhead: My SO also loves Pinterest, but he thinks it is a "girl site" so he just uses my account.....for now. I bet within a couple months he will have his own account :)
It's a comic book site.
Ifanboy is a podcast that I listen to and introduced him to.
He joined the site and is on there every day, reviewing comics, talking about comics with other members, and just being a part of the community.
They all talk on twitter now, which drives me a bit insane. He is on twitter all day. Evern at night, he's laying in bed talking to people on twitter. Sometimes I want to cuddle, and he holds me with one arm while the other hand is holding his phone as he responds to something someone wrote on twitter. It's kind of annoying.
@Otaqueen: I can relate to the phone in bed. It can get annoying when we are cuddling and he has one arm on me, and the other on his forums.
The past few nights I haven't been tired at "bedtime" so I've been doing that... but I can't post from my phone so I don't get in too deep.
He doesn't go on any forums or anything, but he has an addiction to online cards. He sits around all night playing sometimes and I can't get him to come to bed.
@doily: AHHH! Another cyclone!
Yes, he's active on 2-3 car boards.
My man visits and/or posts on:
SomethingAwful.com (I'm also a goon...well, goonette lol)
CheapAssGamer.com (he mostly just reads this)
digitpress.com (he mostly just reads this)
Yep, he's active on online poker boards that he started frequenting like 8 years ago and is now great friends with the regulars. They even go on trips together!
@doily: whoa! what's his name....I'm totally on there too! Girl, you and I have some connections! Whoopsie.......edit, Cyclonefanatic for me, lol!
MissNumbers woot! I-S-U!
Tell me both you ladies are playing Sweet Caroline at your receptions!
My DH has Reddit and some site commenting about the Blackhawk hockey team......and he's on it right now.
He reads a lot of college sports boards. I dont know all of the site names but I know if you subscribe to one school, you can see the boards for all the others. It's crazy during football season!!
My FI spends a lot of his time on videogames, and he has a couple sites he likes but doesn't post as far as I know.
He's an extremely curious guy so he asks me all the time about the hive, he finds the dinamic here intriguing: "How can you spend so much time talking to people you don't know and act like you do?"
@hisgoosiegirl: Of course we will be playing Sweet Caroline! It's on my must play list for the reception!! If I figure out his name, I'll PM you it. We have some mad connections. First you know one of Mr. D's friends in real life, and now you also go on the same sites as Mr. D. It's like 5 degrees of separation Iowa style! ;)
@MissNumbers: Yay! I love Clones!!! ISU!!
He is a total jk-forum.com fanatic! We call it his porn site, hes so addicted.
Mine is addicted to hardforum.com which is for gamers and I think slickdeals.net (?) which is for great deals on everything. Before I go shopping, I ask him to look for me to make sure what I planned to buy is on sale first.
Yup! Thegearpage.net
He's a musician and can spend hours and hours reading posts about the newest pedal, amp reviews, pictures of puppies...
It's kind of adorable.
he's obsessed with SlickDeals.com. I don't know if that counts.
He's on a music forum a good amount of time, though I forget which one. I'm pretty sure his screenname has something to do with Iggy Pop or the Stooges or something. He's a 70s/80s punk music junkie.
Mine does! It's about contracting (like carpentry, renovations, building things). Total snoozefest, but he actually does get good advice and has learned things (just as I have on the Bee).
My fiance is obsessed with reddit. We always joke that you can tell who was using the computer last, because the history is always a bunch of links from weddingbee (me) or reddit (him). To be fair, I think reddit has some pretty funny stuff, too.
Not to the same extent, but he uses facebook and a few phliosophy forums where he likes to have debates with people, lol. I guess it fufills the same need, but I don't think he's on them as much as I'm on the bee.
