My fiance’ and I just recently got engaged on Christmas (2013). I went last week for the very first time trying on wedding gowns, I absolutely fell in love with the allure gown (pictured below) I have not purchased the gown yet because I wanted to really think about it and give myself time to change my mind if i decided so. I’ve given myself time and I keep going back to this dress, it is definitely THE dress. The gown I tried on is the “pearl” color, it is avaliable in “white” or “ivory”. I have seen pictures and this dress in any color is absolutely beautiful, but I am more drawn to the “pearl”. This is my first and only time getting married, what are your opinions on a wedding gown not being white. In this modern day and age I personally don’t think it matters, but did any of you get another color dress and then regret it. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!
Here is another picture with more detail, excuse my bra straps lol it is a strapless gown.

@Merinda1994: If you love the dress in pearl, then get it. It’s your day, wear what you want 🙂 Congrats on finding “the one”

@Merinda1994: TOTALLY FINE. I’ve seen some awesome, more colorful dresses on this site (and on celebrities!)

Heck no it doesn’t!! Mine was a subtle blush and it was wayyyy more flatting on my pale skin tone than stark white would have been. I got a lot of complements on it!!

It definitely doesn’t. Not to mention not everybody’s skin tone works with bright white. Go with what looks best on you!

@Merinda1994: It can be any color your want it to be! The Allure gown on you is beautiful. I decided to steer clear of the traditional white dress, too. I went with a Marisa gown (Style #953) that is Ivory lace over Cafe. I love the contrast and that it isn’t like every other gown.

Heck no it doesn’t have to be white!

@Merinda1994: That dress is a great color and gorgeous on you! No, you absolutely don’t have to wear the standard white/ivory. You should wear what you want to wear.
I’m wearing blush. 😉

@Merinda1994: That dress is gorgeous and you look amazing! I love that colour and am thinking of going with a light gold/champagne/pearl coloured dress too! It definitely still looks bridal…I have similar colouring to you and I thought it just made me look so much more alive than ivory. I think you should go for it if you love it! It’s your dress.

I don’t think a dress has to be white or any shade of white in general. But personally I think Ivory and Pearl etc..are shades of white…I don’t understand when some people get all upset about a dress not being white…when it’s ivory! LOL. I just don’t get it?!
I love that pearl shade, my own dress is ivory, and I’ve seen some lovely blush, gold, and champagne dresses too! I think wear whatever you love!!

Thanks everyone! You are all right! I guess I was just worried of not looking classicaly “bridal” on my big day, but who cares, it is MY big day. And everyone who sent pictures makes me love the color even more! It definitely compliments more skin tones then stark white does!

@DomesticDiva: wow that color looks great on you! I love it!

@Merinda1994: If you’re unsure about whether or not this dress is your dress, it might help to shop around just a bit more. I figured out that my dress was mine when I kept comparing all of the others I tried to it.
And I also chose mine mostly because it really looked good with my skin tone! I looked a bit sickly in the shades of white I tried on.
ETA: Thank you! 🙂

@Merinda1994: I LOVE that pearl color! It looks amazing on you! I think its more common now for brides to wear colors that may not be white or ivory. I wish my dress had came in that color, I would have loved to have it!

I ordered the Allure 8955 in champagne because it looked way better on me than ivory or white.
Although I did just get a comment this morning from a coworker… “is it ok to not wear white for your first wedding?” Ugh OF COURSE IT IS OK haha!
