We did actually think about this since we are getting married outdoors and FI loves the idea. Our dog is pretty hyper though so I don't know if it would work.
I absolutely want to do this!! Our dog is our baby!! He has to be a part of the wedding! I've already said the first question we will a :)sk possible venues is "are dogs allowed??" :)
Love the matching collar and leash! Adorable!
Ok, first of all, Gus is completely completely adorable. Second, we used our dog as the flower dog. He did really well down the aisle, but he didn't want to sit quietly through the ceremony. Luckily we had a contingency plan where my friend got him from up in front half way through the ceremony.
We had a collar of flowers made for him. He didn't love it, but it looks so so adorable in pictures.
Mr. Bee was pretty sure that I was insulting Catch's manhood... but I think he came through it unscathed!
I would love to have our dogs in the wedding, but alas, one would be visiting everyone on his way down the aisle and the other would, without question, poop at some critical point (he loves public defecation). That being said, if your baby is well behaved, absolutely include him or her in the wedding. As Mrs. DG says though, have several contingency plans in place, including having someone willing to wait outside with the K9 Fabulous if he or she refuses to participate!
That collar is so cute!! - I would really love to incorporate my baby dog - Curly - on our wedding but we def need to train him, or rehearse with him because now He's horrible when we go walk with him hehe
my fi keeps threatening to have our dog as the ring dog! while he's the love of my life, he's the craziest dog ever. literally, he's a nut. we've even had to start giving him natural calm dog pills because he has attachment disorder and tears apart the house when we leave, poor thing. when we step two feet away from him to get married, he would start howling. not what i want for my wedding day! good luck with your dog!
I love it! If I could trust my dog not to be a spaz I would totally have her in the wedding!
My dog is totally going to be our ring bearer as well. Our dog isn't hyper, but I am worried about him being in the wedding. He has the most timid soul of any animal I have ever encountered. He is afraid of EVERYONE. I got him from a shelter and I think his demeanor stems from abuse. However, I have tried his pillow on him and he hates it. He will wear it for about 30 seconds before he tries to shake/swat it off. My fiancee and I are going to have the best man hold our wedding bands. We have decided that we will tie "dummy rings" to the pillow so it looks like Simba is carrying our rings. I would lose my mind of Simba shook one of those rings off the pillow--and on the beach to boot. We'd be looking for those rings for the rest of our days on this planet! I found Simba's tux collar/ring pillow at Hobby Lobby. Very cute and it's a OSFA type of deal. If anyone is looking for something like that, I recommend HL. They always have a sale and if nothing else, print off a coupon before you go in.
I love it! We are also doing this. Our dog is like out child :)
I'm actually curious - have any of you ever received rude comments about this? One of my bridesmaids who is not particularly sentimental keeps teasing me that she is going to die laughing when he comes down the aisle because she thinks it is so ridiculous. It hurts my feelings a little bit. Not that I take it to seriously - it is supposed to be sweet, cute and fun - but I don't think I should be mocked! At least not by one of my closest friends ;)
I wish we could do that but I highly doubt our church would allow it and plus she's such a crackhead it'd be quite a hassle. :)
They have some ring bearer pillows for the pooches. :)
oooh although this one is nice and you can choose colors....
I'd LOVE to have our dog in the wedding as a flower girl thing, but as of right now, she's not the best behaved dog, and the kids we have in the wedding will be 4 & under at the time we have the wedding. So we really couldn't have anyone walk her down besides the MOH-i'm not sure if she'd be really crazy about that idea & it may look weird-the other option would be to have her at the front with the FH & BM-but she'll get excited & jump & bark when she sees me. Unless she's better next year, we probably won't have her in the wedding :(
PomPom: I have received some rude comments but like most of the rude comments they are from my FI's family. His brother said he wouldn't be in the wedding if our dog was ring bearer. My FI said, "ok then I guess your out!" Well then he quickly got used to the idea. My family is all for it, but they pretty much are okay with whatever I want. FI's family is more traditional and "harder to please" But really, my dog's got a great personality. I think he'll be fine and one of my very good dog loving friends has already volunteered to be in charge during the ceremony after he walks down.
My gosh Gus is damn adorable! I wish I could do this with ours but we have 2 Boxer pups who are not well behaved ever, I cannot imagine how they would be with 80+ people around. You'll have to post pictires of your ceremony.
I would LOVE for my dog to be in the wedding, but he's too easily excitable and would most likely jump all over my dress and rip it. hahaha.
Still tempted though as my venue does allow pets! :D
I say go for it! It's your wedding and a pet is like family!
My mom got married in June and included all three of her dogs. Two were flower girls and one was the ring bearer. She made all their colors. The flower girls, Molly and Cheyenne, got flowers and ribbon on there's and the ring bearer, Gizmo, had two styrofoam balls attached to his collar that held the rings. It was a very cute idea and could work in theory but didn't work very smoothly for my mom.
She got married next to a lake and my sister and I (bridesmaids) spent most of the ceremony preventing Cheyenne from jumping in the lake or trying to run up to the groom. Gizmo spent most of the ceremony crying because he couldn't get to the groom. Thank god it was a very casual ceremony.
My advice to you is seriously think about it before you decide and if you decide to include him, put some serious time into training him - like many many trial runs. By the way, your dog is absolutely adorable!

We will be having our dog as the ring bearer in the wedding ceremony. Has anyone else done this? I found this great collar from k9closet on etsy. They'll also make a custom matching leash! OUr colors are black and white with accents of red. I attached a pic of the collar and my pup's cute face!
