I took my dog to the vet a few days ago, she had green stool & also seemed to be straining to go. The vet did an xray & blood test. Nothing out of the normal, the vet said there were a few minor things but nothing to worry about. I think he said she had a good red blood cell count. Same weight as always. She’s between 10-12 years old.
However, the vet couldn’t really find anything wrong after doing the tests. Told me to feed her pumpkin or yams & to watch her & let him know if it changes.
Not sure if this is related, but things I’ve noticed:
She used to poop all at once, but in the past week or 2 she goes, than walks to another spot & goes again & repeats that. She’s on Heartgard so it can’t be worms.
Within the past month, she’s lost some fur on her ears (I haven’t seen her scratching her ears at all), the vet said that could be from old age.
For the past 3 months or so, she’s been reluctant to jump into my car sometimes. However she still seems to walk & run fine & she doesn’t limp or anything.
She eats her food, the past 2 months she seems like she wants more food. It seems like she’s drinking more water for 2/3 months, but its also summertime so it seems normal.
I can’t call my vet today, they’re closed. I’m trying to figure out if soemthing is wrong with her. She peed on the couch today, we had to throw it out. She NEVER pees in the house & she NEVER jumps on the couch. She only goes on the couch on the 4th of July aka she’s terrified of those loud noises. She did pee in the house about a week ago but there was a huge thunderstorm, I woke up to my house shaking & I’m sure that’s why she did that last week.
Any vet bees have any ideas? I’m still going to call my vet on Monday but I’m wondering if I can do anything else to help her, if anything is even wrong with her. The vet said that it all could be from old age, however it seemed like they thought it could be something else but all the tests showed up fine.
