SO’s brother and SIL had to go away suddenly, so we’ve got a little house guest for a couple of days. He’s a sweet boy, who also peed on the rug 🙁 when I saw it, I pointed at it and said gently ‘did you do this?’. What I got in response was a slow-mo walking dog, ears pinned back, and refusing to look at me! So funny! (He is 10 and completely housetrained, so he should know better, but I guess he may be stressed and missing his humans and unsure of the rules in a strange place). Then when I ducked out for 15 minutes, he decided to take down the improvised cover on the doggy door. He was locked in the laundry, so when I came back, I opened the door to see him laying in his bed like a good boy, then I opened the door further and saw the damage! I picked up the pieces and asked him about it. Same reaction as the pee on the rug interrogation! I know you shouldn’t tell a dog off unless you see him do it, but boy, he knew he did a bad when I showed him and asked gently about it!
Do your dogs looked ashamed when they do the wrong thing? It’s funny how their demeanour changes when you point out their sins!

@Deejayelle: oh my god!! This is my boy! My girlie is completely oblivious to her wrong doing or the fact you are pulling her up on it, she give you a “you’re talking to me? YOU ARE!! I LOVE YOU! That means you must want to play with me if you’re talking to me!” Whereas he is such a good boy generally, but I caught him doing something he shouldn’t (ie eating a christmas decoration last month) and I came in the room and could tell before I knew what he’d done that he’d done something!!! Ears down, bum down, big eyes, slow walk…… naughty woofs

Our dogs do the same thing. Ears back, low slow crawling with their tail tucked under. They won’t look at you. It’s adorable and easy to tell which dog did whatever because only the guilty party acts that way.

@Sparkidoodle: My boy and girl are the EXACT same way as your’s. She is soooo oblivious to being bad, and he has the most horrible, slow walk, low ears tell ever, even when its our girl puppy’s fault, he still looks guilty! And of course she couldn’t care less. Just either runs out of the room tail wagging, or runs to you tail wagging lol.
