What kind of dog to you have? Believe it or not, animals can also get pimples just like humans. Are they red and sore looking? Do they let you touch them without making a fuss?

They most likely are pimples, one thing I know you can do is not use plastic bowels, use metal or ceramic instead- they will still get pimples but not as often/much.

My dog had a “pimple”. When we took him to the vet for his shots we asked about it and she said it was an ingrown hair/inflamed hair folicle. His was on his lower lip.

My pug gets occasional pimple-like things on his face, they tend to go away in 2 weeks or so on their own.

My pup used to get really bad dog acne! It was horrible, and they started to get infected and be a real problem. We did several things to help them go away:

glass/ceramic bowls only (no plastic)

oatmeal soothing shampoo

and we don’t wash her chin/lips when giving her a bath.

We started to realize she only got the pimples after baths…so we switched shampoos to a very gentle kind and dont wash under the chin…it’s worked great so far!! good luck 🙂

both my boxers get crazy acne…

At first, I was told it was their food… so I changed to an all organic food.

It did get a little better… but it’s still there. Now my dogs are 2 & 4 and it’s pretty minimal.

Sometimes the older oe gets huge ones… and if I don’t pop/clean them, they get hard and black.

Good luck!

My pug always gets pimples.  Do not pop them!  They can get infected.  Usually they dry up and scab up and go away.  No biggie.  He gets them more during certain times of the year too. Be careful of the scabs coming off and the pup bleeding on your stuff though.

My Boxer gets them around his face a lot.  We asked the vet about them and he said its safe to pop them and keep them clean.  He also recommended using a ceramic dish rather than plastic and throwing it in the dishwasher about once a week.

My lab had a giant one near her ear on top of her head.  I thought it was another tumor, signs she was getting older (and turning into a ‘gross dog’).. then one day it exploded.  Sorry for the disgusting morning story, but I was so relieved it was just a pimple!

Dogs can get pimples, but my friends dog has lips that hang down on the botton and the inside of the lip is just rough from food i guess..
