My fiancee and I have two chihuahua mixes that are pretty much our furry kids. We would love it if they could be our ring bearers but I have some concerns. The venue doesn’t usually allow dogs but are willing to make an exception for us. The dogs will be crated during the reception in the room we are staying in but will have to go home with my parents. I do have family members and a couple of friends that know my dogs well but I don’t want to impose. The biggest question is will they freak out or poop during the reception. Does anybody have any experience or advise for me?

I’ve heard of dogs freaking out under the pressure and having accidents. I wouldn’t want them to have to be crated during the loud reception anyways. It might be in their best interest to stay at home.

We are having our dog in the room, but not crated. We’re having an outdoor ceremony though. The reception is indoor at night. They’re not allowed in the reception hall at all because food is served there. We’re going to keep our Scottish terrier in the room — or have the dog be taken care of by the assigned babysitter(s) in the kids’ room after their supper is done.
