I was wondering if someone could give some info on how you personilized your wedding website address? I want to use wedding wire but would like a different website name- I looked at Go Daddy and was unsure of how to proceed…greatly appreciate any info anyone might have!

I made my website for free using WordPress (I know, it’s really a blogging site, but it works!) and purchased a domain name through them! It was about 15 dollars for a year, I think. You can check it out and see if you like the layout. I understand some people wouldn’t want the “blogging” feel the main page has…. http://www.david-and-erin.com

I have purchased a domain name from Go Daddy before, and it was pretty quick and simple.
My biggest piece of advice would be to NOT let your domain name expire. A friend of mine got married this summer and her domain expired about 2 weeks before the wedding. Not good. And most people attending were Out of Town, so it would have been great to have that info available, and not have to bug the bride!

I think I can help.
I use weddingwire for my website but I have a custom domain name. I purchased the domain name from somewhere else inexpensively.
So it works like this:
someone types in http://www.blankwedding.com and it automatically forwards you to the weddingwire site.
Purchase your domain from godaddy or wherever and then look for something on your control panel that says “domain forwarding”. You can then forward your domain to whatever website you choose. In this case, add your weddingwire site.
Does this help?

We used a company that specializes in wedding domain names. We got ourlastnames.com and pointed it using theyre DOmain Forwarding “masked” service so it goes right to our THeKnot web site and people never see the long *** theKnot URL address. It looked great on our invites!! 🙂
