We are getting married 10/16/10 and really wanted to do an Alaskan cruise (not an option b/c they stop doing cruises 2 weeks before we get married) so we are trying to plan a 5-7 day honeymoon somewhere in the states. Somewhere romantic, maybe somewhere with snow? He doesn't like Vegas so that's out. Any suggestions? I'd like it to be reasonably priced b/c we will be going on our 2nd honeymoon on an Alaskan Cruise in May/June Laughing

    Ideas:

-Lake Tahoe (Natural setting, beautiful scenery, casinos if you are in the right spot)

-San Franciso and Cali coast (Explore the city, drive down to see Heart Castle and Monteray)

-PNW like Seattle and Portland (Although in October it might not be ideal weather)

-National Parks (Yosemite or Yellowstone are both great)

My mind jumps to Colorado...or up to Canada if that's domestic enough. Whistler/Victoria? I might not suggest Seattle in October because it's probably gonna be raining, definitely not snowing.

I was gonna say Lake Tahoe and Canada too!  Guess I'm useless lol.  Give 'em a try!

I am liking the Canada idea. Mr.M and I just chatted on the phone and he said we could scratch the whole Alaska idea and go somewhere warm (thinking Aruba) for 4-5 days then fly home, repack and go to Northern Canda so he can get some snowmobiling in for 3-4 days. I agreed. I really want to go somewhere warm and lay on the beach, snorkel etc. he really wants to snowmobile so this is our compromise. We will be away from work for about 2 weeks total this way.

So anyone know of any good warm spots in mid October that are less hurricane prone? and any places in Canada that usually have snow in October?

I'd say right around you! The northwest can be gorgeous in the fall with all the beautiful leaves! What about a mountain spa?

oh hmm, warm.  what about the west coast? will it be warm there and less hurricaney?
