I have been thinking for a while about what to do with my dress after I wear it. I don’t want to store it away in a box because I don’t think it will ever come out again, even if I have a daughter.
I had mentioned selling it to my mom — who thinks I’m crazy — even though she just got her’s from her parents’ house a month ago (still in box and took it straight to storage).
Then I had the idea to donate it. I started looking for programs that took donated wedding dresses. I found one for military brides and one for brides that have or have beat breast cancer. My only concern is I don’t know anyone else who has done this. Does anyone know any reliable places to donate a wedding dress?

My sister donated her wedding dress to the Salvation Army. Her friend donated her dress to the Breast Cancer Society. I think it’s great that you’re considering donating your dress. I would call up whatever affiliation you are interested in and see what their donation procedures are!
Edit: I would consider this? http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org

I donated two of my dresses to Brides Across America. They give wedding dresses to military brides at no cost. I can not say enough good things about BAA, please consider them in your options.
I forgot, I know they are a legit cause. My SIL sends ladies to their give aways all the time. I got a thank you email on one of my dresses from the bride that received it. I am still hoping that she will send me a pic of her in it 🙂
