    Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share with the hive an idea I had.... since we're having a quasi-destination wedding (having the wedding where we live but not where we're from), I figured that not many guests will be taking centerpieces home with them.  So, I called up a local hospice to see if they would like the flowers as a donation.  Turns out they're so grateful that they're going to send volunteers out (way out of town) to pick them up the next day.

In case you don't have plans for your flowers after the wedding, please think about donating them to a hospice, hospital, or old folks' home.  I figured if I put this idea out there and one bride does it, that many more days will be brightened.

I was surprised that my florist and no one I asked in my area had ever heard of this....but then again, I'm a social worker :)

    Happy Friday!

Hospice is a great idea!  I called several local hospitals, and they won't take them even if we deliver them.  Donating Flowers Post Wedding : wedding flowers donation Icon Sad  But I hadn't thought about hospice.  There is actually one about a block from our venue!  Thanks so much for this post.

We are doing the same thing! Our florist is arranging the delivery and is charging a $50 flat fee for delivery. It's definitely something to look into when you meet with your florist.

My first job as a teenager was at a nursing home.  Then in college I worked at a group home for developmentally disabled adults.  I am utlizing a friend who wanted to help out in one way or another and having her deliver some of the floral centerpieces from our reception to the nursing home & group homes that I worked at.
