My DH does this regularly - twice a week. They give him $20 the first day and $30 when he comes back for the second time that week. I tried it twice, and while it's not at all painful, they had too many problems with getting my blood to flow properly, so it took forever to donate. DH is in and out in less than an hour and he can surve the Web, read a book, do homework, watch a DVD, etc. They'll ask you questions before letting you donate - making sure you haven't engaged in any activities that could make your blood unsuitable - drug use, sexual activities, travel, etc. If you pass the questionnaire and they find you're healthy (prick your finger, take your blood pressure) they'll strap you up to a machine and you're good to go.

Has anyone does this? How painful is it, really? What do plasma donation places look for in a donor?
I've heard its a good way to make a few extra dollars, but I'm kind of just curious about the whole thing.
