Now he keeps yelling "kelp forest!" One in that series has a grouper (fish), and I bet he would save that for all his buddies.
Then actually bring up the fact that he sent his wedding invites with a grouper stamp. With pride.
Oh, Hulk Hogan. My DH would have loved that. I didn't even ask my DH about what he wanted, I just went a bought the wedding cake stamps since our invitations were $.61 each and not $.44 each. Which reminds me, get your invitations weighed!!! I've heard $.61 is pretty standard for invitations, so get them weighed before you buy the stamps.
Mine were just printed on my computer, so I just bought regular stamps. Because I am cheap like that. lol. Seriously, though, I doubt many people will notice the stamp...unless it's Hulk Hogan. lmao.
Ah. I made the mistake of sending FI to the post office with all of our invitations to double check that we had enough postage. We didn't. So, next to our beautiful, flowery, wedding-appropriate stamps are $0.17 stamps with pictures of...moose. Thank god us brides are the only ones who really even look at the stamps!
You might not have to worry about this if your invite is more than an ounce as most are, you probably won't be able to use the cowboy stamps, unless you put extra postage on that you don't really need.
Cowboy stamps?! I'm intrigued... but in an "I kinda want that" way... ;)
OK, so you inspired me to go look. My FI would LOVE the Roy Rogers one. Too bad it's the four pack with Gene Autry and two guys I've never heard of.
But... thanks to you, I now know that there are monarch butterfly stamps coming out. I will have them. Even if I have to put other postage on. Even if their 64cent price exceeds what my invitations need, I will have them. My dad's favorite butterfly was the monarch, and he always used to point them out when he saw one, so I always always associate them with him. Thanks, monitajb!
I made the mistake of doing this with invitations. He suggested that since we are having a summer wedding with a Caribbean band outside during cocktail hour that we should have "Pirate" invitation. Yes a man with a pegged leg and patch over his eye! Okay this is not a 5yr old birthday party but our elegant summer wedding! LOL
This is the same reason I don't ask mine about music. His answer to every song choice is "Eye of the Tiger" or "Welcome to the Jungle." ::shakes head::
Ooh, cowboy stamps! I'm going to have to check that out. Jk... sort of. :D
Thought you all might enjoy this!
FI has been really great through all of this. I've been really territorial about the invites, but I asked him to handle stamps. Of course, we're probably going to need more than the 44 cent stamps for the main invites, but we did enjoy discussing the options.
I did promise not to use the wedding cake stamps unless it comes out to exactly 61 cents. We haven't weighed them yet, but my guess is they'll come in around 78 or 81 cents.
That's okay, my fiance is even more obsessed with stamps than I am! For weeks he refused to even THINK about using the king & queen stamps because "everyone uses them" and he wanted something unique (yet still wedding related).
I finally convinced him that the king & queen are the cutest wedding related ones, so I think we'll be using those :)

I just asked him what kind of stamp he wanted.
First thing out of his mouth: Hulk Hogan stamps!!!
I calmly explained that Mr. Hogan is still alive, and therefore is not available in stamp form.
Then we went to the USPS website, and he fell for the cowboy stamps. Cowboys. And he is rejecting my compromise of cowboys on the RSVPs.
Sigh.
