So the wedding is in a month and 5 days and we don't have wedding bands yet. I have tiny fngers and jewelry stores never carry my size. We can't go this weekend so the earliest we could go is next weekend. How screwed am I?

You should be fine. I would just go this weekend. If you aren't looking for anything completly custom you should be able to pick a band and have it sized to fit your finger.

I just read that you couldn't go this weekend. Can you go any time during the week? I bet if you call your jewler they will even stay open later to meet you.

I don't think it takes too long to size a ring, a week, maybe?  So if you pick them out a couple weeks before, you can get it sized down in time.  If you run out of time for sizing, just size it after the wedding.  If it's too big, at least you can get it on your finger, then worry about it later.

Nah, we bought ours a month ahead of time, and were totally fine. Mine was custom as well.

My ring was custom and took about one week. You'll be fine :)

Not sure where you're planning on getting it from, but you should be fine. We're having ours made, and even though we're giving them like two months to do it, they said it really only takes 2-3 weeks, max. Although I do know (especially if you're going shopping in the Diamond District in NYC) that some jewelers close/go on vacation in July/August, so just something to keep in mind.

Yeah, it takes them all of about a day to size a ring.. you should be fine.  I'd wait to have any engraving done till after the wedding, if you were planning on doing that.. just to be safe.. but even that only takes a day or two.

I bought mine in the diamond district (in NYC) and our custom rings were ready in about 2 weeks. I wear a size 3 and wanted a specific style the store didn't even carry. On another note, we also paid in cash and saved a TON of money. Let me know if you want to know the name of the shop!

You should be fine.  FI and I picked out our rings and were able to pick them up sized and everything the next day.

I think you have plenty of time but I would start emailing/calling some.

You should be okay on time. My e-ring setting was custom made and done within a week.

I'd recommend going to a privately owned jewelry store; some of the chain stores have to send items in to the main headquarters to get worked on, while a private jeweler will do it all in-house. (Faster and less chance your ring will get lost!)

We're gonna go to the Diamond District next weekend. FFIL has a guy he goes to and they are on vacation this week so that's why we can't go this weekend. We're bringing him along to haggle because I'm terrible at it and FFIL has experience :)

I feel a little better now since people are saying it only took 1-2 weeks to size. I'm not going for anything custom, I just want us to have wedding bands already!

I'm having trouble finding something as well but that's because I wanted a custom one and the jeweler is not local - they told me 4-6 weeks - plus I wear a 4.25.

I wouldn't stress though - you could have it a little big at the wedding and still get it resized afterwards.

@camrie: good point re: resizing later. hopefully it doesn't come to that though. i wear a 4.75 so they are not going to have my size anywhere ready-to-wear. grr.

@Kittyachi: Some places do carry 5's though so you could always get a cheap sizer for the bottom of it till you can get it sized (I have one on mine).

I'm at the point that if I don't find something I'll use my grandmother's wedding band that I inherited for the wedding day and then get what I like after the wedding. I'd rather have something I liked than just what I can get in time.

Do you have anything you can use as a "stand-in" ring just in case?

I wouldn't worry about it. My friend bought his wife's band (sz 4.5) a WEEK before the wedding. Doesn't take more than a day or two to resize unless you have something crazy complicated.

I know on iweddingband.com they have 1/4 sizes (including 4.75) in white gold bands, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. That's where we got ours, and I think one of the Bees did too, but I can't remember which one.

That will still take about 1 or 2 weeks though, which would be the same as ordering from a store I suppose.

eweddingbands.com also has 1/4 sizes.  We bought ours there.  They came in about 4 days, and a super nice quality.  We spent about half of what we would have spent at a traditional jewelry store.

My fingers a 4 so i feel you on never being able to wear a ring without it being sized first. I got my e-ring taken down 2 sizes in 12 hours. Maybe they were havinga  slow day or something but when I asked when I could have it back he said what are you doing tonight?

Don't worry, we don't have our rings yet either.

You aren't screwed at all.  It takes a jeweler about 15 minutes total to resize a ring.  You can just ask him to do a rush order, depending how busy he is, it shouldn't take more than a week.

My FI and I just ordered our bands last week. They didn't have exactly what we wanted in stock in our sizes so we ordered them. We were told it would take a month and we were told that most likely it will come in before then. I would be surprised if they were unable to put rushes on them.

I don't have mine yet either!  Mine's probably going to be from Blue Nile and they do overnight shipping for free...AND you could probably order in your size.  They also have a 30 day no questions refund period so if you don't like it, you can return and even have time to get another one.

Some of the places that we looked at said that they needed about a month to deliver a ring... but if you needed it by some particular date, then they could work with you (maybe for a slightly higher fee?).  Either way, I think you should be fine.  Lots of jewlers should be able to deliver wedding bands to you in your timeframe.
