@shrinkgirl:  your wedding is not until November, you have plenty of time.

If they told you August.  I would wait until August 1st to call if you are curious of the status.

I ordered mine in March and they told me it would come in the end of July.  They called me 2 weeks ago that it was in and I went for my first fitting.

@shrinkgirl:  i Actually did “check in” on my dress after a girlfriend told me a story where the store I got my dress from didnt send in her bridesmaids order because they had an extra bridesmaid they were waiting on (they accidently put a random maid in my friends party). I just said, I’m sorry, I forgot the estimated date for the dress, can you let me know when they expect it to be in. And they did. And my dress actually came a week later all perfect!!

I ordered my dress from a place where the only negative reviews were that they tend to not arrive on time. I ordered my dress a year in advance just so I wouldn’t be stressing out. The expected arrival date was May 30, and I received it mid-late June. I called them once a week starting May 30th to follow up on the status of my dress but not before.

@shrinkgirl:  I was just wondering the same thing. I ordered my dress in September and it still hasn’t arrived. They told me it would be in around June when I purchased it, it hasn’t arrived yet and my wedding is in Sept.

@shrinkgirl:  I don’t think it’s polite to check before the time they stated.

Your wedding is still 4 months away.  There is no benefit for it even being ready yet.  It is too early to get altered.

If you are worried, go ahead and call to ensure the order was placed and recieved. But then, assuming there are no problems, leave them alone until the EDD of the dress.

I would think that would be annoying if brides were all calling before the estimated dates. I wouldnt call until AFTER the date the shop gave me.

I ordered my dress in November and was told it would be in at the end of May.  When that came and went I called (A week or so into June).  My dress won’t be in until the beginning of September now.  My wedding isn’t until March so I have plenty of time, but I sure didn’t expect another 3 months!

@shrinkgirl:  I am too logical I guess.  I think about what would happen if all the brides that ordered a dress called before the time they were told, to see if it was in production.

The shop would spend so much time fielding calls, that they would have to hire more staff, thus driving up even further the costs of (already over-priced) dresses.

If the shop some how screwed it up, they would be the ones eating the cost to rush order the dress.  I personally would hate my life, if every client I worked with called to confirm I was doing my job which I am paid to do correctly.

I would just wait until at least the deadline they gave.  But hey, if you feel you need to call go nuts.
