I have a standard 4-prong and love it. It’s a tough choice though… I think the double is quite elegant! I ended up liking whatever covered less of my diamond up though. 🙂

ETA: Just realized you’re talking about solitaires only… I think I’d be more likely to go with the double prong if I had a solitaire… you know, to spice it up a little or something! Also… this is random, but have you seen the heart prongs? I think they’re adorable (and a nice compromise between standard and double): http://www.pricescope.com/wiki/engagement-rings/prong-setting-styles (toward the bottom of that page)

I’ve got a double claw prong solitaire and I love it.  The double prongs really look stunning on it.

I have single 4 prong, but I looooove the double claw!

That’s why I really love the clawed prongs, they definitely don’t overpower the center stone as they are delicate. 🙂

I orginally had a 4 prong setting and reset my diamond in a trellis setting with double prongs.  I love the new setting but I think it made the diamond look a little smaller.  Oval 1.71 carat diamond

@lilsweetie:  Mine’s from moissaniteco.  We found them to be really easy to work with, and the rings are so much prettier/more delicate than they look in their weird website pictures.
