It’s been a crazy few weeks, but we have found two spaces that both of us like, and are close to our original budget. (Entire venue/food/taxes costs would only be about 2k higher than our initial venue. Which, considering we are now 4 months out, we are willing to pay that difference.)
I am surprised I couldn’t find anything on the boards about this space. It’s actually pretty nice! There isn’t a ton of natural light but we will be in the dark in December anyways so that doesn’t matter. It gives us a lot of room to move around, and we really like the bar area. (hah! I sound like a lush.) The rental time is only 6hr total so we would add in set-up hours before our event. They have a nice bridal suite area (and grooms room) which we liked. The downside there is that getting-ready space is only available to us for three hours before the wedding, so we couldn’t store our purses and random bridal accesories in there during the event.
They have a food/bev minimum that if you meet it, there is no room fee. Due to this minimum being a ‘peak season’ time for them (December = coorporate holiday party month) we could invite more of our friends to attend. Currently the guest list is 90% family.

Sanctuary at Admiral:
The major downside to this one is it really locks us in at 100people. Granted we are only inviting 130 total and we already know at least 10 cannot come, and more will RSVP “no”, I am sure. But, I wouldn’t go over 100 in that space even though they said 120 *could* fit, seated.
It’s really nice as well. I LOVE THE BRIDAL AREA. The downstairs “speakeasy” is nice for cocktail hour. The stairs getting up to the stage are a little scary for me in my 4″ heels but the coordinator says she’s seen much much more complicated outfits get up the stairs. (They might be 10″ wide. Seriously. And one side is a wall.) But we could hold our ceremony at the windows facing the park instead. (We will have daylight for our 3pm ceremony, but not much after that!)
They have a higher room fee but their alcohol is cheaper, thus making them comparable in pricing to Emerald Downs overall.

Now I just have to decide which space will fit our vision more. They are so, so different!
To tell you a little about our wedding: we are going with winter themed. Both venues will already be decorated for the holidays (free decor for us! yay!) Our colors are purple (eggplant) and silver/grays. My centerpieces are ruffle trees on ornate stands. (The not-so-great mockups are pictured below. I don’t have a pic of the better ones but you get the idea.)
