In my obsessive search, I found many different places. We chose the War Memorial Plaza (fee is $65 + you have to get day-of event insurance) and the War Memorial Auditorium (the final fee is more than I expected at $5,600, but it's beautiful and they're great to work with). Other unique places I've found are: the Ambrose house, One Eleven, The Avenue South, and many, many hotels. You have to dig if you're just looking online. I suggest getting out there and knowing the area first. Don't forget about the parks too. Good luck!
Thanks so much! I will be checking out places this week. Any tips or suggestions for wedding planners? I dont know if I can do this all solo!!! So much to see and do and I feel like i might miss something or someplace
I really like aVenue or Aerial Nashville for a cool downtown space if you're looking for an open loft kind of feel.... but there are so many different venues in nashville! The Cannery Ballroom at Mercy Lounge is pretty cool also...
Other ideas:
The Parthenon
Timothy Demonbreun House
Belle Meade Mansion
Belmont Mansion
Union Station
You can also book out restaurants like Sambuca or Watermark in the Gulch. I had my reception upstairs at the Boundry and it was fabulous.
Let me know if you need more ideas because I think I went to EVERY SINGLE place in Nashville/Brentwood/Franklin when trying to decide where to do my wedding :)
Here's a wedding planner I highly recommend: Jamie Swartzendruber with In Any Event.... inanyevent@bellsouth.net, 615.294.0756
You could check out art galleries, too. We went to a fun reception at the Rymer Gallery, which would be great for a more cocktail style event.
I'm not sure of the size you are looking for but I have looked at the Symphony Hall, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the top of the Verizon Building (I think that is the name; I think the nickname is the bat building, as in Batman) for some corporate events. My favorite was the Verizon Building because the views of the city were AMAZING! It is done in the round so you could move around the building in different rooms following the sunset, it would be spectacular! The Symphony Hall has a really beautiful outdoor patio for a ceremony or outdoor reception. Plus you would have access to their musicians. Depending on your size inside the Symphony hall the seating area can be raised/lowered to make a Cabaret style or stage level for banquet style. I also think the riverboat has some private rooms, but you would need to check into it. Good Luck, let us know how it turns out : )
This is all wonderful information! THANK YOU! I checked out a bunch of downtown event spaces yesterday and have been emailing and calling a number of others. What great ideas you all have and Nashgirl, thats for the wedding planner contact info!
