@kandb070311: Excellence is gorgeous, and the spa there is fantastic (they have a complementary afternoon package for couples which we enjoyed very much). The beach is a bit wavy and wasn't blue or easy to swim in (more tide jumping than swimming that we did) and the food at the a la carte is quite bad (overthought and too many strange substitutions) IMO (except for the buffet which had a good selection) however the grounds are gorgeous and there were many couples there getting married and honeymooners. They have free room service, and the suites are really nice but we saw a roach in the hall (and I read reviews of rats too and stuff because people leave their room service dishes outside their door overnight which is bad)
My fiance got a little sick for a few days, maybe from something he ate.
There were some reviews about stollen items, so make sure you have a working safe and ALWAYS lock valuables away. I always lock my suitcases with expensive clothes/shoes too because I don't want anything stollen.
Check trip advisor for reviews, I also have some pictures that I took there:
We just booked at the Royal Suites Turquesa for a week in May (17-24).
The Royal section is an adults only section inside the larger Pallidum complex, the good thing with that is that we stay at one and play at 4.
Being in the Royal section you have access to swim up rooms (to die for!) a private beach, 2 pools and a Resturant for Royal guests only. You also have a butler, you don't have to make reservations at any A la cart's on the entire resort and you can order golf carts to take you anywhere you want to go. A few other perks are: Amazing steam showes, top shelf booze, pillow menu, aromatheraphy menu.
Check out the reviews and pics on Trip Advisor, I was obsessed with reading reviews for weeks before booking, it's so hard to narrow it down. What ever you choose it will be awesome :)
The place looks great, can't wait!!
After months of researching, we chose Majestic Elegance. I also highly recommend Trip Advisor for reviews and pics
I've stayed at the gran bahia in punta cana and it was amazing! I would go back, lots of things to do, great beach, awesome restaurants, karaoke bar and a disco on site and tons of little shops, the staff was wonderful. I really have not one complaint.
I second THIS!! We are actually staying at the Royal Suites Yucatan in Mexico because it was a little cheaper for us- but this resort would be where we would have gone had we picked DR- hands DOWN!! In addition to trip advisor, check out www.palladiumaddict.net for even more info on this resort. It's AMAZING!!!
@TheFutureMrsE: Great resort - I stayed there! Beware of the food though..
I went to the ambar earlier this year and I absolutely LOVED IT. I know quite a few people who have been here and rank amoung the best all inclusives they've ever stayed at. We'll definitely be going back!
Just be careful because it is completely possible to lock yourself out on your 3rd floor balcony, haha.
Any questions about the ambar, just ask!
I have been to the grahn bahia principe esmeralda. it;s right next door to Ambar. IT's actually one huge resort broken down. anyways, i went there last year and it was fabulous!!!!!I love love loved it!!!! I travel alot and I highly recommend it!!!!
I researched this a ton and actually picked Majestic Elegance as well! Used tripadvisor alot to help make the decision!
TheFutureMrsE -- Super weird we are getting married the same day and going on the same HoneyMoon!!!!!
I love the Excellence Resorts in Mexico, but the one in the DR isn't one of my favorites.
I toured the Secrets in Punta Cana a few months ago, and was really blown away by it. ( and I'm sort of tough to impress!)
We've got a couple of weddings coming up at Majestic Elegance later this year. It's a good resort as well.

Hello,
We have finally narrowed down our choices, but I'm having a tough time deciding between these two? Has anyone been that can share a little more about their experience with either? Thanks in advance!
