I love my venue. I think it is gorgeous. It has a beautiful ceiling skylight. The entire ceiling is a glass skylight. I’m not sure if it is still called a skylight when it is the whole ceiling. At night, the photographer will get good pictures of the party reflected of the glass. Before it gets dark in July, you can see out to the sky, but it is tinted, so the sun doesn’t beat down on you. I just can’t decide if I should add these drapes or not. Adding it will be a considerable addition. I got a quote that it is $90/column and there are at least 4 columns. The place looks pretty without them, but I also like the softness of the drapes. I also don’t want to take away from that glass ceiling effect either.

The drapes are pretty, but honestly nobody will notice if you don’t use them. Your venue is gorgeous without the drapes, and it will save you $360 that you could put towards something else that you really do love. If you are wishy-washy on the subject then you probably don’t have strong enough feelings about the drapes to keep them. Save your $ 🙂

Thanks for the opinions. I added the poll too.

Without the drapes, to me those draps kinda look out of place

I don’t like the drapes. Personally I think they make your gorgeous place look cheaper.

I prefer letting the architecture of the room shine through without the drapes.

I love the skylights, so the drapes sort of interfere with the view. Also, I think it takes away from the beautiful interior design. Just my two cents…

Thanks everyone, I love the place. It is so regal looking. It’s a historical site that has been renovated. We fell in love with the place empty with no tables or decoration or anything. I think it will be complicated to get the drapes in there since I didn’t go wtih the florist that normally does it. I’d have to go through a rental company and add another vendor. I was just afraid that it would look to rigid for a wedding. I think I’ll save my money and avoid the hassle.

I’m not sure if it’s the drapes or the longer table cloths that make it look better…… nope it’s definitely the more formal tablecloths…. It is such a beautiful space!

Such a beautiful space! That is like my dream space- unfortunately those types of places are scarce in Michigan.
If you want to spice it up a bit I would consider stringing garden lights across the room (just a few rows of big bulbs, not messy going every-which-way). It could really play up the ceiling and make it feel like an outdoor courtyard at night.
