I just got an estimate back from my a draper (drapist?) that works with my DJ. They are charging $400 for just the back wall of the ceremony room. It’s not even a wide wall. This seems a little steep for such little labor. What do you think?
I’m considering asking someone my venue works with. My sister used this person, but she doesn’t remember the cost. This person does very simple work, but I’m willing to go simple if there’s a big difference in price.

I didn’t know that was a thing. Couldn’t you rent the drapery and DIY it with some youtube videos?

Does that include installation?
Ours will be about $650 for a simliar thing :/

You need the cost per linear foot to compare, as well as the height (you don’t want an 8 foot drape in a room with a 16 foot ceiling). I got quotes anywhere between $7 – $13/linear foot.

It just seems so expensive, since there’s no fancy hanging or draping, like you see on ceilings, doorways, or windows. They’re basically just hanging a large white curtain on the back wall. We’ll only be in that room 30 minutes.
@NAvery: It’s 30 feet long and 10 feet high…

I was quoted $1000 regardless. I was NOT impressed.

Wow that just seems really high but then again it could just be the area you are living in. I say DIY! Cheaper and you could sell the fabric after.

I’m weary of DIY and for that kind of thing I think I would trust a professional! We are paying $500 including labour set up/tear down for our backdrop and it’s 16′ high and 30′ wide. That being said, it’s going to be behind our head table for our dinner reception so basically using it the whole night and not just for 30 minutes!
You could probably call around and negotiate with other companies. We could’ve gotten one for $400 but the height wasn’t right. Oh and ours isn’t just straight up and down drapery, it’s going to be swagged so it’s not just hanging there.
