Our wedding is in a banquet hall which is more special outside than inside. It on a lake and there’s a beautiful view and some natural light. As far as making the inside nice i have no idea. Overall we don’t want anything too fancy and I am againt rustic. I need a style thats middle ground between those two and some ideas to execute it on a seriously slim buget.
We will have chair covers in ivory. Tablecloths will be either ivory or one of our colors (teal, copper, or red (accent)).
Is is tacky to use chargers and place centerpieces on them? If i dont rent charges for all the guests?
any other ideas? Please help a bride out LOL (and i thought dress searching was stressful lol)

i think chair sashes and table overlay would look great and add some color to the hall. what kind of centerpieces were you thinking about doing, floral non floral? I’m Hoyt a big fans of using a centerpiece the bottom of a cecenterpieces. I do like the lanterns in the pic

The ceilings don’t look to be very high so I would avoid anything on the ceiling like in the photo above b/c it just brings the room down too much.
You can certainly use a charger plates for your centerpieces as well maybe something like the ones below. I think bringing in candle light would really warm the venue up a bit
Depending on budget uplighting always creates a pretty setting

@JessieR: I am leaning towards non floral. I was thinking about doing some herb plants in decorated baby food jars, or some some glass things to add color and to double as favors. But I don’t want to spend alot of money on flowers.
@weddingbound: thanks for the inspiration pics those chargers look awesome. Do you think draping on the ceilings (even if it doesnt hang low) would be bad? Also would it look too formal? I am anti-formal, i want this to feel more like a good party/family reunion than a stuffy event.
what about this?

@Zaraj_Will: You can certainly drape strings of mini lights. They will look beautiful after dark. Just remember not to hang them too low. There is a T bar ceiling in your venues. You can get special hooks at Staples, or Home depot, Lowe’s etc
or, if the light strings aren’t too heavy, you can just use larger paper clips opened out.
In the same way, you could hang bunting- it doesn’t have to be rustic
Mexican papel Picado is also very pretty
If you are planning on doing favors, you might want to consider a “breakaway” centerpiece. It is made up of a number of small pieces so each guest takes part of the centerpiece home.

@Zaraj_Will: I’d just avoid draping if it were me and spend the money on up lighting. I just think low ceilings IMO don’t look good with anything draping them
In your pic above looks fine with maybe a few lights if you want them….. In your pic it doesn’t have draping on the ceiling just a wall back drop which would also be ok
After looking back at your pics I notice a very lovely fireplace! I always think its a great idea to create a focal point in the room and I think if I were you I’d decorate that area especially since its in the center of the room!!
I think it would be so pretty to have your fireplace with lots of candles (if your ceremony will be dim or dark outside)
or something like this if it is not dark
you mentioned you liked greenery so this would be pretty
This might be too formal for you but its gorgeous and though I’d throw it out there
I really think if you play off the fireplace you wouldn’t have to do much else in the room except centerpieces!!

@julies1949: wow thanks. never knew about those options to hang from the ceiling. You also showed some great pictures, I am feeling much more inspired now! Thank you so much.
@weddingbound: I think you are right i need to play the fireplace up. Then I can decorate it without spending a ton on multiples of tables. The candles are lovely but i love that las picture as well it reminds me of an arbor. Any clue what that is or how i can make one? I think they sell bed post looking things at lowes? I could paint them and add a piece of wood to connect the two at the top. As for the candles, I’m not sure how mdark it will be The sun isnt supposed to set until after 8pm i believe. and I’m thinking the reception will be 5-10? 11? Idk, until the liquor runs out i guess lol.

the herbs sound nice as a centerpiece and a favor. You can get a lot off glassware items at the dollar tree If ou wanted to do candles for the centerpieces and maybe forgo the favors

@Zaraj_Will: Yeah not quite sure but you are right is resembles some sort of arbor….maybe you can brainstorm ideas as you still have a bit of time! I do think thou they fireplace is a good place to spruce up!!
