My *dream* is to go to the Seychelles islands and go on an African safari... I looked into honeymooning there, and their packages start at $10,000/couple. *sigh* a girl can dream...
We would love to go to Hawaii. I've actually looked into it. We may take a honeymoon about 6 months after the wedding so maybe we can try to save some cash.
i was googling this only yesterday!
im only 4hrs away from south pacific islands (vanuatu, niue, tonga, fiji, new caladonia ect) so for me its not anything earth shattering as its in my neighbourhood and i holiday this once or twice per year
so last night i was looking at the dominican republic (http://www.sivorypuntacana.com/) and dreaming of the Maldives or Mauritius
We're probably going to St. Lucia or US Virgin Islands. I'd also like little Palm Island too.
If we go to St. Lucia, I'd like to go to either Jalousie (he's been there before and loved it) Plantation with a private villa or Jade Mountain (open walled suite w/private pool).
We are going on our dream honeymoon: a six month trip around the world! I feel so lucky!
Well, maybe it could be more perfect if it were a year, but our jobs would never let us take leaves for that long....
@katrinab omg where do you work that will even let you take 6 months?!? i'm clearly at the wrong company lol. i'm SO jealous.
Dream honeymoon would be 4 weeks traveling around Thailand and the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. We were actually going to try to do this by doing a honeymoon registry, but we decided that our wedding $$$ would be better for saving for a house in the next few years. I'm now lobbying for Rome & the Amalfi Coast, where I've actually been before but that was ten years ago and I've been itching to go back ever since. Also, Greece is on the list.
My dream honeymoon won't be a dream come October!! I get my dream honeymoon in Hawaii!!! We are both so ready to go. Only about 3 1/2 months to go!!!
@katrinab -- how did you plan this?? I've been seriously (my husband thinks I'm crazy) contemplating ways to make this happen! I would LOVE to do it! do you mind sharing some plans? Where you're going? How expensive it will be? I'm guessing you're staying in hostels and the like? Ah, I wish I could just DO IT! :)
@katrinab - I'm SO jealous too!! 6 months?? How are you traveling? I've seen those "around the world" cruises and they look amazing
I think my dream honeymoon would be any tropical island with a beach and a decent hotel. My dream vacation would be a month in Australia. I want the honeymoon to be relaxing and there is so much I'd like to do in Australia that it wouldn't be very relaxing.
Every since we've talked about getting married, my FI has talked about going to Reykjavik for the honeymoon. I have no idea why. I'm game for it, though, and told him if he can find a way to make it happen, we could do it. We both got far too excited when Iceland's economy took such a hit late last year...then felt horribly guilty :) Would be neat if it could happen, but somehow I think we'll end up with Hawaii, or something a little more traditional. Fun however it shakes out.
We're going on our dream honeymoon (that's the plan anyway) to Fiji!! We're (hopefully) going to a private island resort that's all inclusive. I'm excited!
@KiKittyachi - I do nonprofit fundraising and FI works for a political database company. It's a bit easier for him since it will be the slow politics season when we go, but for me I think I'm just lucky to have a boss who said "I would never get in the way of you doing something so cool."
@nada122 - I'm happy to share our plans! We bought round the world plane tickets--most of the major airline alliances offer them and we booked through OneWorld. It's partially based on what continents you visit, so if you know there are some you don't want to do that makes it more affordable. We had originally booked tickets to Europe for a 2-week honeymoon (using frequent flier miles!) and so bought our tickets from London, and so were able to complete cut out the North/Central America continent unit. Seriously made it like half the price. We will probably stay in a combo of budget hotels, B&Bs, and hostels, but we are going to try to avoid dorm-like/shared room accomodations as much as possible. Let me know if you want more info or have questions!
@DaisyBride - Thanks! As mentioned above it will be by plane not boat, but I'm sure we will get some water transport in along the way as well
Our dream destination is the whole of Europe, for several weeks! that would be fantastic...but realistically, it'd be shorter, and I'd at least like to see France, Germany and possibly England. My family lives in Japan so hopefully a mini trip there too, we'd love to add in...
Oh wow katrinab - that is a dream of a trip!
Our top two dream trips are the Galapagos and a tour of France... we've looked into both in detail, but a house comes first! We've promised each other we'll do our tour of France before we're 50 (only 20 years to go! *lol*).
Oh, we have so many dreams!
We'd love to go to Fiji or Bora Bora, somewhere like that... so beautiful!
If we weren't getting married in the summer (and trying to stay within budget) we'd love to visit South of France and other places in Europe. Or we'd love to travel to southern Brazil.
All I want is to see Ireland before I die...but it'll be a lot of money needed in order to do that. :(
Oh well. No matter where we go it'll be great :)
Spain and Portugal. Oh, they're so gorgeous and filled with history and, and...expensive. :( So, we're going to NYC and it's going to be fabulous, of course, but it's not exactly the same effect we'd get staying in sunny Spain!
You know...this is how geeky I am. But I know we both would looooove it.

A tour of all the sites they filmed the Harry Potter films. Wow.
But a quick pounds to dollars calculation...for the the whole shabang it would be around $1237 in us dollars. holy cow. just for the tours.
Actually this is an even better tour for only a little more...

We're floating between:
a. flying around America and visiting places we've always wanted to go (New Orleans, Maine, and Washington State-New Orleans especially)
b. French side of St. Martin
c. Spain, though neither of us are too up for traveling around Europe right now, too expensive! Plus we've both been, and we'd probably only for the food, since we're both total food lovers!
i agree, if money were not an option, safari would be great, but my fiance can be an olympic sleeper when he puts his mind to it. when dreaming that we have enough money for a honeymoon, or even the time to take off, family business, crappy economy, i wonder what would be a good combo of relaxation and some history/culture we are oregonians, so too much sun can sometimes equal no fun if we're not careful. scotland sounds like it would be really cool too, but something tells me it could cost a pretty penny, unless we get footage of nessie...
My dream honeymoon would be to go to the Galapagos. And I plan to make it happen. :)

If money didn't matter, where would you go for your honeymoon?
I'd go to Kauai, Hawaii - and the trip would definitely include some zip-lining! I'd like to go there for an anniversary - maybe 5 years?
We are still going to a pretty awesome spot - St. Thomas.
What is your dream honeymoon location?
