My job makes me neurotic. It turns me into some crazy, crazy girl. It makes me want to storm into my boss’s office, scream “I quit! and by the way your team is a bunch of chauvinist pigs!” throw something, and walk out, never to return.
Too bad there’s no jobs in this economy and I need an income. *sigh.*
a great example.
This morning I walked in to an IM from one of the other girls in the office that just said “WTF!!” –
me: hahha what happened?
her: Something about little titty committee which then turned into the most offensive things you can do to a woman which then turned into showing them rape scenes!
her: it was bad!

OMG that is just… wow. Beyond not OK. How are these men not worried about sexual harassment lawsuits? Jesus. I’m sorry you work with scum. That’s brutal.
I daydream of quitting every day on the way to work. I also sit at work fantasizing about ways in which I could get myself fired and also about having Jerry Maguire-style freakouts on everybody in the office.

What they’re doing isn’t just offensive, it’s illegal under Title VII. That’s one of the worst examples of a “hostile work environment” I’ve heard in a while. I’m not going to give you legal advice (I’m a lawyer), but from one woman to another, I’d be complaining – and if nothing changes, contact a lawyer.

That’s beyond awful! I hate my job, but at least I don’t have to put up with that. Just with an arrogant, incompetent a**hole for a boss.
lol, one of my favourite pasttimes on the bus to work is daydreaming about quitting in a justified rage. Sometimes my husband tells me to just do it, but I know we need the money. Sigh…I’m on the hunt for a new job, I can’t wait until I find something.

ugh, yeah I actually have been keeping a log of quotes and offenses over the months, but there’s a big grey area in that the company I work for is tailored for a male audience. so, 80% of the time, they’re (believe it or not) actually talking about work. (fyi it’s not porn. i’d never sink that low.)
right now i’m just trying to find another gig before i snap (totally jerry maguire style!) so, crossin my fingers that the resume looks fancy enough to catch someone’s eye.
if i wasn’t so afraid of being unemployed, i would have gone to HR a while ago. but it’s just not worth the risk right now.

But if they discipline or fire you for complaining to HR, that’s retaliation – and completely actionable (not to mention beyond stupid on their part). What you described above isn’t normal even for a “male-oriented” company – showing rape scenes?!

Aww that’s awful. I dream of quiting my job too…too bad I only live 1/4 of a mile away in a town with NO other jobs. Plus I work with both my parents so it would make them look bad…and I would never make this kind of money. Sigh.

I dream about quitting EVERY. DAY.
I have a HORRIBLE boss in a super corporate environment… a severe micromanager who’s just MEAN. But, like you, I need the income and the economy sucks. So I just keep on applying to other places and hoping something will turn up, but with the way the company’s going, I’ll get laid off eventually!

wow…that bites. I’m sorry!
