OK, I am a 46yr old bride for the first time. I am planning an October wedding in Toronto in an old church, a candlelit ceremony with a reception at a classic 1929’s inn. Being plus size its hard to find a great dress anyway. I’ve lost 55lbs and want to lose more before the wedding. Planning a trainer to firm up my arms and possible arm surgery. I have until Oct 2012.
I’ve found two dresses that I like. I’m not sure which one. I like them both, but I worry that the chiffon one will be too light of a material for an autumn wedding. Also, note, the chiffon one is a size 20 and too big and the other one is a size 14 and too small so both dresses will look better in the right size.
Leaning toward this one

I like the first one for you.

I prefer the chiffon one…much more sophisticated!

I like #1 for you – the chiffon is too summery for a fall wedding. You look beautiful!

First off, congrats on the weight loss! I love both of them, althought the second one may be too “summery” for an October Toronto wedding. Btw, the 14 looks like it fits you nicely! They are both beautiful But just remember, your date is still awhile away. If you are going to have more body transformations or possible future dress envy, I would hesitate on commiting right this second!

The first one suits you very well!

The first one will look amazing on you in the right size! It’s perfect. The other one looks too beachy.

They both look awesome on you! I kind of like the second one better!

The first one looks really nice. I like the way the corset goes super far down on your back. It really elogates your waist :))

First, congrats on the weight loss! I was a first time bride at 41.
I love the 2nd onebut it is definitely too casual for your venues.
I agree with RR that you shouldn’t commit yet. You don’t have to make a decision for almost another year. With more weight loss planned, that may completely change what looks good on you. In the mean time, have fun looking!

Thank you everyone, I forgot the other part of my question. Am I too old for these dresses? I want something age appropriate.
I like the first one 🙂
Do you feel beautiful in the dress – that is what makes it age appropriate? 🙂

You’re about to get one of my ARRRGGGG posts here.
Those style of dresses look fantastic on you. Wear what you love and feel great in. There is no such thing as ‘age appropriate’ in my books. It’s body shape and preference that dictate what you should rock on your special day.
(PS: I’ll be a first time bride at 41 and I too am wearing a strapless, fit and flare with a corset back )

You look great in both, but #1 is fantastic! Definitely go for that one!
