Hey, all! I'll be attending a fellow graduate student's wedding and would love to know what you think about me wearing this dress to the wedding:

    http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=39292&vid=1&pid=745940

It will be held indoors at a country club in the south in June, with the ceremony starting in the early afternoon.

I love the longer length of the dress and the fact that I could rewear it for so many occasions! But I didn't know if black was appropriate for a mid-day summer wedding or if the racerback was too informal for a wedding? Or if, by wearing fancier jewelry and shoes, it will be okay.

Thanks a lot for your time and advice! I appreciate it so much!

I'd say with hair up, fancy sparklies and shoes you'll be fine, if the wedding's not super formal.

Do they have any specified attire on invites or websites or anything?

Yeah, dress it up with bold, statement jewelry and you should be fine!

It's nice - It'll be fine and if you dress it up and down then it's multi purpose!!!

personally I don't like wearing black if i can help it  - I'm a colour junky!! but If it's smart then you'll be fine !

Its a laid-back chic look! Love it! Do a longer, fancier necklace and maybe a chunky cuff with a great pair of shoes! A beaded clutch of sorts will take your look to the next level too :)

If that is your style, then go for it. I would not wear black to a wedding in the summer.

I probably wouldn't (because of color and racerback)... but I agree with previous posters that the right shoes/hair/jewelry could spruce it up!

Thank you so much for your honest opinions! Cricket, they didn't suggest any specific attire. I tried on colorful, flowery summer dresses but I'm just not a colorful dress person; I tend to gravitate towards solid colors and bring the color through accessories!

Love the dress! Perfect and can be worn to any occassion at any time.

I've been to a midday summer wedding where the BM's wore black dresses.

Get it. I think you could dress it up with silver or pearl jewelry that states simple class (perfect for country club style)

Ooh and bring a shaw if it gets chilly?
