So I bought my dress back in January – Maggie Sottero’s Ascher. When I originally went wedding dress shopping, I never imagined myself in a mermaid/fit and flare type of dress – I didn’t personally like the looks of them. But, I loved the lace of this dress and how it looked on me (plus I was under a time crunch) so I got it! Now I am becoming apprehensive again about the fit and flare look. I am short, only 5’1, and I have heard over and over again that these styles of dresses are very flattering for smaller people. BUT sometimes I am just not sold on this style and my fiance mentioned to me recently he didnt really like the looks of those dresses (ugh). The alterations lady gave me a few opions on what I could do with this dress.
What do you guys think? Here are my opions in the order they are pictured: original style, a less dramatic flare, or altered to be more of a dropped waist:

I think the original dress style looks fantastic on you! Of all of your 3 pictures, your original dress is the most flattering on your figure. If you are insistent on changing the style of the dress, than I vote for #3 – drop waist.

I think the second one looks more elegant

The first one looks the best on you IMO. Beautiful dress!

IMO your dress looks incredible as is & your fiancé will be seeing the dress on you all dolled up looking incredible! I’m sure he’ll love it x

I think it looks amazing as is (the second isn’t that great, it just looks kinds frumpy with the lack of structure, and the third is okay but I think where it comes in and flares hits you in a bad place and makes your hips look bigger than they are).. And I’m not much of a mermaid/fit-flare fan at all, but this particular one looks banging on you!!! This makes me wish I had tried one on!!!

The original dress is gorgeous. Don’t change it. You look beautiful.

First of all, you look gorgeous! Second of all, I honestly don’t see a big difference between the three styles… but I think number 2 is my favorite, followed very closely by number 1. Bottom line is you look great and shouldn’t worry!

amf9201: Keep the original style. It looks incredible on you…don’t mess with it. And don’t fret over what your FI says. Guys make these offhand comments about what they do and don’t like in wedding dresses but the reality is that his jaw will hit the floor when he see YOU in it. Put what he said out of your mind, girl. You look beautiful in this gown.

I think your dress is so gorgeous!! I prefer #1, but if you arent crazy about it, i dont see a huge difference between 2 or 3, so whichever you’re more comfortable in. Your FI’s comment about not liking that style shouldnt bve a huge deal though, because TRUST ME, he wont even notice its that style, or will forget he even said that. My DH hates ‘messy’ things and i was positive he’d hate my dress because it was quite busy in the skirt, but he loved it (whether he’s just saying that to make me feel good doesnt really matter to me lol)

Your body looks amazing in the fit and flare. Don’t change it. The other styles aren’t as figure flattering

All dresses look absolutely stunning on you! However, your original choice is my fav… Congrats!
