missfenn: That dress is gorgeous! I understand where you’re coming from trying to look good being bigger. I ended up buying an A line corset dress. I think any dress with a corset can do wonders for the figure!

But,unfortunately this is the game every bride has to pay picking her dress. The first thing I would say is: What are you going to cut to pay the extra for the dress? Unfortunately, if you cant afford it or cut budget from somewhere else, then you’ll have to keep looking.

As for the poof of the dress is may be possible to take some layers out, but will probably need to be done by the seamstress.

In my opinion, I would keep looking for now and see if you cant find something you love just as much but maybe for a little less dollars.. If you still love this dress after looking around a bit, then work out where you’re going to cut the budget from. Goodluck!

missfenn:  I’m betting there was a crinoline under the skirt to help poof it out, and those are usually easy to remove.  I was in the same boat in that I liked the a-line shape but most of the natural waist gowns had a bigger skirt than I liked.  When I tried on dresses like that the consultant would gather the crinoline up and (ok this sounds weird, bear with me) stuff the crinoline between my legs so I could squish it there and see what the dress would look like without it.  I know it sounds odd but it really gave me a good idea of how it would look post-alterations.

PS That’s a gorgeous dress!!
