I think the "drop dead date" would be determined by your seamstress. Call the place you're planning to go, ask the timeline and make an appointment.
It will probably depend on how much work needs to be done on it.
My schedule was mid-July first fitting, mid-August 2nd fitting, late Aug 3rd fitting/pickup, wedding late September. But I wanted it done far enough in advance that if something went wrong it wouldn't be an emergency. The seamstress had wanted my first fitting 1 month before the wedding, but I felt that was cutting it close.

What is the timeframe for alterations? I'm trying to lose a bit more than a couple of my happy and content pounds before the wedding.
What's my drop dead date in weeks prior to wedding that I must have alterations done? Is it simply based on the schedule of the alterationist?
