Take it somewhere else! do some research in your area or ask friends and family to see if they can suggest anyone. Alterations can get expensive but $599 sounds way high.
Maybe check the Ohio Boards, or Ohio weddingwire or something. Is there something special you're having done to the dress? $599 for alterations is INSANE. You could also try looking at some of the dry cleaners in your area. A lot of time they'll hire an in-house seamstress/tailor for these kinds of situations. Then it's also convenient to have the dress pressed/cleaned all on site. I'm taking my dress to a local seamstress and she's charging $130 for taking the dress in, hemming and bustling. Almost $600 really is crazy.
That's more the Kleinfeld's charges for alterations...in Manhattan. I'd say that's way overpriced and you should look around elsewhere!
$599 is their basic alterations package...regardless of what your having done! It is very high and I have decided to shop around elsewhere so if anyone knows of a great seamstress in the Cleveland area please let me know! Thanks so much!

Hi Bees! I purchased my wedding dress and the shop charges $599 for the alterations! The dress only cost me around $800 so I'm having a really hard time justifying spending that much to have it altered. I know that I could take it to a seamstress and pay half that amount, if not less, but I don't know of any. Do I just suck it up and pay the $599 for the bridal shop to alter it or should I take it elsewhere? HELP!!
