So I bought my dress back in August and it won’t be arriving for a few weeks but I have a question. I have no experience whatsoever with alterations or designing clothes in any way, so it may be dumb but here goes…
My dress is a ball gown. It puffs out at the waist and goes straight down but the more I look at the pictures, the “pouffier” I want it to be. I was wondering if the skirt in Picture A can somehow be turned into that of Picture B. Think it’s possible?

I think this would be fairly easy – have you considered trying it yourself by adding a crinoline?

You could definitely achieve that by adding a crinoline

It does look like your skirt has enough fabric to do that. I agree that buying a crinoline is better than doing actual alterations. I think the skirt looks very pretty as it is, and then if you don’t love it, it’s easy to just not wear the crinoline.

Did they let you try your dress on with a hoop skirt at the salon? That would also do the trick!
Just make sure you don’t hem the dress too far in advance if you plan on adding some poof – that usually makes the dress shorter, and if you hem at the existing skirt volume you might not be able to add the crinoline/hoop afterwards.

Add a hoop skirt! That’s what I’m doing! 🙂 You look beautiful in your dress!

First of all, your dress is absolutely gorgeous!! And yes, you can definitely do that by adding a hoop skirt underneath. My dress will be fuller and look very much like the second picture you posted, larger even
