LOL, noone? Any mantilla wearers or lace experts out there? Or did I already bore everyone with my dress issues? :))
Merhaba Melis:)
I really like your dress the way it is. I understand that you originally wanted a lace dress but my worry is that if you add lace to the hem of the dress to make it look like the one in the small picture, it might have an abrupt look. Maybe I didn't understand it fully- are you planning to add the lace just to the hemline or will it kind of start from where the floral pattern ends? My thinking is that since the floral pattern does not continue all the way down, adding lace to the hemline where the fabric is solid might not be a good idea. I actually love how the floral pattern kind of fades midway through the skirt leaving the rest of the fabric simple and flowy.
I think your dress is perfect as-is. I honestly wouldn't mess with the hem. Even though your dress isn't lace, it gives off the same vibe as a lace dress, it's very romantic. I think adding lace on to it might make it cluttered and would take away from the overall look.
As for the veil, i think the alencon lace would compete a bit with the detail on your dress so i guess my vote would be chantilly or even
and, my last piece of input even though you didn't ask...don't get a reception dress!! your dress is awesome and you should wear it all night!
Merhaba! :)
Hmm, I was worried that may be the case too, both about the abrubtness and the clutter. That's why I seek other opinions. I was thinking of just having it on them, like this pic, but a lot thinner. This one's probably about 10-15" inches wide and my hem lace would only be about 3-5". I gotta think more about this one
I don't think alencon will go very well with the rest of the dress. It looks completely different compared to the flowers on the dress.
I think your dress looks perfect the way it is.. im also wearing a lace dress by tara keely but i did end up added the lace trim at the bottom.. still waiting for it to come in but the designer suggested it...
Hi @morkielove, I'd love to see pics of your dress when it comes in with the added trim. Which model # is it?

By now most of you Bees have probably seen pics of my dress. I had my original doubts but now I'm definitely sticking with my dress, with a a remote possibility of getting a second one for the reception .
This weekend I met with an awesome lady (Candi Merle at Veils By Crowning Glory) who's going to make me a custom mantilla. We looked at the dress pics and some ideas for the lace edging but didn't finalize the order since the dress has not yet come in yet. Another thing that I've been thinking of is adding the same lace to the bottom of my dress to create a scalloped edge. I originally wanted a lace dress and since I didn't end up with one, I'm trying to lace up the ensemble as much as possible. She said we can order extra yards of the lace if I want to use it on the dress as well. Here are some questions/thoughts:
1) What do you think about adding lace to the hem of this dress? Here's the original dress, vs what I would prefer the hem to look like. I think because the floral pattern ends up halfway down the skirt and the neckline looks kinda lacy, it wouldn't clash.
2) For both the mantilla and the dress, do you think thicker alencon lace or thinner chantilly lace would work better? I initially thought chantilly has a more whimsical, romantic look but I love this alencon veil that Candy has made for another bride.
