What are you looking for in your dress that you haven’t found? Trust me, I know. I probably tried in about 75-85 wedding dresses, could have been 100, who knows. But yes, it’s exhausting.

What kind of dresses have you looked at?  What stores have you gone to?

Oh honey, I hear you! I looked for dresses for THREE months! Nothing was just what I wanted, but when you DO find it, you WILL know! It is a very exhausting process. I’m not sure who all you take with you when shopping, but I actually found my dress when I went by myself. I had done several appointments with friends, but I went by myelf one last time, trusted my gut, and BAM! Bought my dress that day, no looking back.

Girl, I hear you. I LOVE shopping, and enjoyed wedding dress shopping, but was definitely over it. I went to 9 shops (one shop I went to three seperate times!), each appointment over 2 hours long, and tried on over 100 dresses.

I am super picky, so I knew going into it that it’d be a long process. I am also frugal, so even though I had the money, I hated the idea of spending a ton of money on one dress.

I found one dress I liked more than any other, went to three more stores, and called it a day and ordered the one I liked more than others. Do I LOOOOVVVVEEE it? No, but it’s a beautiful dress, I look great in it, it’s my style, and, like I said, I liked it more than I liked anything else. And I can’t really imagine myself LOVVVVINNGGG a dress. Plus, my dress was only about $600 – once I found that good of a deal I couldn’t imagine finding anything I liked enough to spend more than that!

What are you looking for and what size do you need?  Venus Bridals has a ton of beautiful dresses (they have a women’s line, too, but their other dresses go up to a 28). Orrrrrr if you find a dress that you love, you can always have it replicated/customized through somewhere like Jasmine’s or Dressilyme. 🙂

This is why I bought my dress on the first day of shopping, at the second store we went to. Cancelled all the afternoon appointments that day because I was DONE, SON. Haha I don’t know if that means I have low standards or am just lucky, but ohhh lordy, three hours of dress shopping was enough to last me a lifetime. Shopping for accessories, on the other hand …….. Wink

@Jennyemm:  I feel you. I started looking in November and finally found my dress in June. I… do not want to repeat that process. I kept finding dresses that would be “ok” for the wedding, but didn’t wow me. I FINALLY found my dress in the store I was most resistant to visiting. I was a snob and refused to go to David’s Bridal, but after striking out at the fancy boutiques we went to (where the dresses I tried on ran $1000-1500), I reluctantly agreed. I found it there! The dress I fell in love with, I kid you not, was $450. Never, in a million years, did I think I’d find my wedding dress there or pay that wonderful price. Perseverence and my mother’s nagging seriously paid off! Hang in there!

EDIT: And if you want to get married in a dress you found at the department store, more power to you! Save your money, buy the dress you love, and tell anyone who has a problem with it to can it.

Yeah, I didn’t love the dress finding experience. I had some specific requirements that aren’t very popular so I didn’t have a lot of choices at many salons. I basically, I gave myself about a month and went to probably 5 salons during that month (one of them was huge so I went several time). Probably tried on around 35 dresses. Then I just decided that I had seen enought and it was time to pick the one I liked best. And I narrowed it down to 4 and went and retried all of them again, and then picked the one I liked best. That easy. Mine actually just came in last week and it fits like a glove.

@Jennyemm:  Have you seen the giant Jasmine’s thread on here? And we got our bridesmaids dresses through Dressilyme (four of them, different styles) that were absolutely gorgeous.

I did not want this to happen to me, it was by biggest fear. I went to DB just to try on different styles, i literally wanted none of the dresses there but wasn’t sure what was going to look best on me. Then went to the boutique i had been dying to go to, found it and said no more!
