Where to begin? Wedding planning has gone along swimmingly so far–almost too easily? I was excited to find a dress. My mom flew in from out of town, and we went to appointments at a couple of different stores.
In total, I tried on roughly 20 dresses total before settling on one. At the end of my last appointment, I tried on a dress (Hayley Paige Paloma) and had all the feelings. I cried, more than once, felt the butterflies, etc. The catch? I liked it without the blingy bolero. We dressed it up with a belt, I felt good, made the purchase and we went home.
Immediately, I started worrying that it was too simple. This is (hopefully) the only wedding dress I ever wear. What if I don’t look special enough? I tried it on again the next day at a different salon, and they accessoried the heck out of it, and made it even better. I cried again (again!). Now, two weeks later, I am wracked with the same anxieties about it being too simple. I have some photos of me in the dress, but the photos just don’t do it justice at all.
Has anyone had a similar experience? I am agonizing over whether to continue the search and lose my deposit, etc, or persuade myself that it is indeed the right dress.
For reference, the dress with bling (on the model):

Do not be anxious! Beautiful dress! I think its simple in an elegant and intresting way. It’s not all flashy but has unique design to it.
It’s a beautiful dress!

I agree with Mrs. Z. It’s a gorgeous dress, very unique. Don’t forget…you tried on approximately 20 dresses & this is the one you felt some kind of way about. It’s for a reason!
“What if I don’t look special enough?” GASP! Don’t you even think those words again. You are the BRIDE! Trust me you will look more than special…you’ll look spectacular!

Mrs.Z.: marialorendesigns: Thanks, ladies. You’re probably right. I’m just bummed that this part of the wedding is causing me stress. I thought this would be the easy part!
Thanks to both of you for the vote of confidence. Hopefully I can put these feelings to rest soon.

I think it’s a lovely dress very classic and timeless. It’s one of those dresses in 20 years still will look great 🙂

I think that dress is so amazing. It’s classic, yet has little style designs that make it unique and modern. That’s quite a feat of designing: a classic yet modern and unique dress. I was so anxiety ridden about my dress choice from the second I walked out of the store. I looked at the pictures I have of me in the dress and each time I began to feel more and more re-assured. Posting it on here as well also helped by receiving so many words of encouragement from other bees. I’m sure your mom who saw you in the dress will also provide the kind words you need!
Try and remember that a wedding dress is special by definition. It’s a wedding dress, a class of its own in the dress world. Plus after you’re all dolled up on the day of, oh man, how does it get more special than that? Just imagine the day of, getting ready, looking so beautiful and then putting on that baby to complete the entire picture of you on your very special day. I’m sure once you see the whole set up (accessories, hair, make up) you’ll feel so beyond amazing!
