You can smush it a big in the move, since you're going to have to get it altered and steamed anyway before you wear it. I'm not suggesting that you pack in UNDER everything, but a little smush won't hurt most dresses. As far as storing goes, I would hang it in a guest room closet out of it's bag. I have heard it's bad to leave it stored in the hanging bag, so if you don't want your FI to see it, I would tell him to steer clear of that closet.

Hey ladies! I ordered my Maggie Sottero Keeley dress a mere two months ago, and just got a call today that it's in! I'm shocked that it came so early and don't know quite what to do. I am going in for a fitting on Friday, and hope to pay the remaining balance soon.
Here's the deal: I am moving out of town in about two weeks, so it's great that my dress is in - i can bring it down with me when i move instead of having to make a trip back up here later. However, how do I do that!? I would have to squish my dress in my car with all the rest of my stuff while moving, and once it's home, I really don't know what to do with it! I was not expecting to get my dress this soon, and FI and I don't even have an official date set yet.
Do any of you ladies have any advice for moving / storing my dress?
