So this is the dress my bridesmaids are wearing. I’m thinking either the burgundy or claret (it’s an autumn wedding).
For reference, here’s the dress below.
Here’s the Burgundy:
Here’s the Claret:
I’m really stumped as to what colour shoes they should wear. Also, I’m thinking that because the wedding is in autumn, a shawl might be appropriate for them too, again, I’m not sure of the colour.
My wedding is taking on an autumn colour/theme, so rich and warm tones (burgundy, deep reds, yellows and oranges)
I’d appreciate any suggestions 🙂

I should probably include a picture of what I’d love as my bouquet.
Roses and calla lillies

There really, really isn’t much difference in the two, and I honestly thought that if you were to pick one, and then a month after the wedding ask all the guests which of the two the BMs wore, you would have a mixed bag of guesses!
That being said, I’d personally go for claret before the burgundy has the potential for your accessories to make it all very very dark, and gothic, almost hallowe’eny rather than autumnal

@Sparkidoodle: I know what you mean about the two colours. They’re so similar, you wouldn’t know they were different if you didn’t have them side by side. Thanks for replying 🙂
What colour shoes and a shawl should I go for? Like gold, champagne or cream?

@itsmeetam: Yes definately, a champagne would look really pretty

I prefer the claret, the other one could tend to look a bit gothic. And yes to the champagne shoes! They could be worn with so many other outfits after the wedding as well. I think a cream colored shawl would be perfect as well.

Champagne would be nice, but maybe also copper and bronze.

@itsmeetam: I vote black shoes for ease, everyone has a black heel and if you’re having the BMs buy the dress then they can save some cash wearing shoes they already have.

@Merinda1994: That seems to be the general consensus; the burgundy could come off looking too Gothic which is not what I want. Cream would be lovely for the shawls and I really want the girls to be able to wear the shoes again.
@BeeNumberBea: I should look up accessories (shoes and shawls) in those colors. I love warm tones and those child be spot on!
@jennmariee: I want sure about the black shoes, like whether they would go but black goes with anything. I’m actually buying the dresses, shawls and maybe the shoes for them (I don’t want them to be out of pocket for MY day). You’re right though, it will save money because most likely they’ll already have black heels.
Thanks for replying girls! I know my wedding isn’t for a long while yet but I’ve already been engaged a year and most the planning is done, just trying to get little bird and pieces together so I can relax and focus on other things. I appreciate your help!

Black shoes might be easier since most people own them, but a metallic shoe might be more visually interesting? If you are going to stick to warm tones, then maybe consider a copper/bronze, or if the claret is a cool shade (it’s hard to tell online), then a pewter shoe might look really nice. Plus metallic pumps can plausibly be worn again (unlike dyeables!).
(BTW – those dresses are lovely!)

I would suggest a nude or bronze metallic shoe.
I would stay away from a cream shawl. It doesn’t go with the rich and warm tones (burgundy, deep reds, yellows and oranges) you described.
I would look for something in those colors once you finalize your choice for the dress.
