Vineyard and Melissa Sweet's Reverie (and maybe her new Jewel line) are economical... well compared to PoB's main lines. They might be the top of your budget, but Vineyard especially has really clean lines. I think the silhouette you're looking for is "Fit and flare." That's what I went with- it's really flattering. Another idea- if you don't find the one (dress) you love this weekend- is to get a dress second hand (I did!) at a sample sale, on bridepower.com, oncewed.com, or preownedweddingdresses.com, or brides against breast cancer. It's cheaper and greener :)
Ohh another date twin! Look at Maggie Sottero for sure! She makes lots of trumpet / sweeteart gowns (mine is!) and the most expensive I've seen is just over $1,000. Good luck and have fun! :)
Pronovias - there is a lot of resemblance to some Jim Hjelm gowns :)

I'm going dress shopping for the first time next week, EEK! :) so nervous.
I was wondering if you bees had any suggestions on designers I should look at
my price range is about $700 - $1200 max
I love jim hjelm and vera wang...but they are both oh so completely out of my price range
just a few thoughts
-strapless
-form fitting, low waist (not quite a mermaid..trumpet??)
-minimal lace,
- no beading or crystals of any kind
I'm not dress lingo savvy yet.
really just looking for designer ideas, but anything helps!
