Besides Maggie Sottero im having a hard time finding a designer that does a lot of corset backs.
Lets be honest. Im having a hard time finding a dress i like. I feel ive tried on millions and haven’t found the “ONE” yet.
Ive looked at so many. I love it on me but when i take a picture of me i dont like it on me in the picture.
Im getting married in Oct 2010. Everyones saying i need to order my dress by next month. Is it true? How long do i have till i have to order a dress?

Check out Sophia Tolli too. I feel like I’m always plugging her, but it’s only because I loved my ST dress so much!
And I think people are just pressuring you to buy, but I ordered my dress in November. It came December 18th for a July wedding. You have plenty of time!

I think how far in advance you have to order depends on the designer. Some do say they need a minimum of 6 months, etc.
I went looking in February for my late-September wedding and wound up buying a dress off the rack on my first trip out!
Have you tried just Googling “corset back wedding dress” and seeing what comes up? Usually designers like to have some variety, so you might not find one designer that does lots of them.
However, I’m sure if you call some shops you can ask how many corset back dresses they have and then go in to try them all on.
Also- a word of warning about judging how you look from a photo. NOBODY looks lovely after they are in and out of a couple of dresses (your hair’s a mess, you’re tired, sweaty, etc). Further, unless the person taking the photo is a pro, I doubt they’ll get a good shot of you with a camera phone or point and shoot with fluorscent lighting!
Don’t worry about the photos. Go with how the dress makes you feel!

Martina Liana dresses often have the option of ordering it as a zip-up or a lace-up(corset-back. I happen to love her dresses! I’m planning to try on a few when I go dress shopping in a few days! I’m so excited!

My gown is a Justin Alexander and the seamstress is going to put a corset back in it for me. If you find a gown that you like and it doesn’t have a croset back, ask if they can put one in for you. It is a very popular style, so I am sure that depending on the gown, they can modify it for you.

Soon2bMrsWheeler – You expressed my situation exactly! I tried on a million dresses, didn’t find what I was looking for, even returned a dress I ordered after seeing my photo and hating it (they wouldn’t let me take a photo before I placed the order). And I live in LA and like corset backs too. We should’ve gone shopping together 🙂 At least it sounds like they’re letting you take pics, most shops I went to wouldn’t allow it. Which shops have you been to?
I finally ordered a dress that I wasn’t 100% in love with but was the nicest of all the ones I looked at. The dream dress still haunts me though, and if I ever find it as a used dress or a sample before my wedding I may be a two dress bride. I ordered mine at the end of November for a May wedding and they promised the dress by the end of April. Most designer also do a rush order for an additional $100-$150, in that case I think it only takes about 3 months. So I would say you have plenty of time still.
As far as corset backs, Pnina Tornai seems to have a lot of those but of course she’s exclusive to Kleinfeld. As trashy as some of those seem on TV I can’t help but think they could look real nice if they simply had a lining to cover the sheer midriff.

I’m really happy with my Private Label by G gown. They have alot of corset backs and they accept custom changes so if you find a dress you like that doesn’t have one, they will put one in at the factory.

I’d second both the Sophia Tolli & Justin Alexander! Sophia Tolli used to be a designer for Maggie Sottero, so that explains a lot. Justin Alexander had my runner-up gown and it fit like a glove with the corset back!

I second the Sophia Tolli!! I had a very hard time finding a dress I liked, too. Even when I saw my Sophia Tolli in the store, I didn’t look twice, but then I tried it on, and it’s just fantastic!
For October, you still have plenty of time. I ordered mine in April for a January Wedding, and I received it in August. All my alterations were completed by November and now I’m just looking at it, waiting to wear it….
