I've always been a "classic" person style wise. I'm grace kelly and Audry hepburn not some fashionista always on the latest trends. I love Ralf Lauren and Banana Republic... That being said, I love the classic ball gown. Going into shopping I loved the dresses with a satin skirt and lace overlay top. Not all lace. I love structure and clean lines. So, I like these both, the waist of dress one is dropped a bit lower than I would personally prefer but it's not a dress killer. Going off just the knowledge that my FI and I are both "classic" people.. and both are fitting yet completely different, which do you like more?
One of them is almost twice the price. But I won't say which because if it will be THE dress I'll make it work, it's not a budget killer.
Settings: Catholic full nuptial mass. Reception in art gallery atrium that has high ceilings and a very natural elegant feel. Real tree's line the dance floor.
Dress One: Attachemnt: Dropped Waist / love the back. Elegant but dropped waist. Love the back but may be hard to find a bolero for church.
Dress Two: One with matching bolero, one without
They are both beautiful, but there is something about the bottom of the first dress I don't like.
I really like the lace dress! It is so beautiful! And the veil with it makes it so much better. Either way you can't go wrong, they're both great but that's my pick. Good luck!
I think both of these dresses work within your "classic" guidelines. My personal preference is for the all satin one, as I think it highlights your assets to maximum effect! Both look great on you, but I do think the second one (all satin) is slightly more classic.
Best of luck, you've got great choices to work with!
I'm at the airport so I may be missing for a few hours when I board the plane :-) But, I really like both... one of these will be "THE" dress. I just don't know which... help!
I LOOOVE the first one! Your like me and love that audrey hepburn feel and dress one def does it!! I would kill for a dress like that! ;)
I really love sweetheart necklines but I love the back of the satin dress. I think it also works well with your body.
Oooo I just noticed we were date twins too!!!
Thanks Ladies! Keep the votes coming, it's tied at 3! ahhhh
Since both fit classic - let's stick with what looks best?
DEFINITELY the first one...so beautiful, romantic, and timeless!
Both are beautiful but I am drawn more to the all sating dress. I think it makes your body look perfect, while the other one hides it a little more!
And now we're tied at 5, haha. Boy, I'm glad it's not just me torn on this one! lol
i think they both look amazing on you and are both gorgeous! i personally prefer the satin one and i think the dropped waist really suits your figure...but at the end of the day, which do you picture yourself walking down the aisle in? which is more comfortable and feels more "you"? when i was deciding between 2 dresses, that's what really helped me decide!
They're both really pretty but I like the first one better. SOmething abotu the waist on the second one just doesn't sit well...
I really love the lace one. It reminds me of a more modren Audrey Hepburn. I think it has more presence, and would work better with your venues.
I think the shape of the lace one with the bow around the waist does more for you. I really like it and think it fits in with your classic look.
I LOVE the first dress!!! But I am always a sucker for lace... I think it is SO romantic!
i love the lace!!! when i saw it i was like wow that's pretty the second dress is very pretty as well but defintiely not classic and timeless i think it's more modern sophisticated...
First one for sure!!! LOVE the lace and neckline. Gorgeous! :)
you look wonderful in both but i LOVE dress two! it is so romantic and looks made for you =)
HANDS DOWN -- lace with matching bolero! The more natural waist -- oh, and that bodice/bustline -- is gorgeous on you, simply gorgeous. You will love your pix forever!
I think they're both beautiful, but I like the satin one better on you! :)
Now I'll throw in the "kink."
Dress 1: satin - is $1100 incl. hollow to hem
Dess 2: lace: $2590 before alterations. No extra length or hemming needed.
I love the clean satin look. Both dresses are quite classic but I really don't think the lace is worth an extra $1000 almost.
P.S. We're date twins!
I think the lace with the matching bolero is beautiful on you. I like the sweetheart neckline, it gives you a better shape in the upper body area.
Normally I'm a sucker for lace and sweetheart necklines but based on those pics I like the all satin dress a lot better on you. The dropped waist makes your figure look smokin' IMO! Don't know if that matters to you but you look about two sizes smaller in that one. And I actually would've picked that to be the more expensive dress. Do you mind letting us who the designers are?
The taffeta (?) skirt with the lace pattern bottom looks somewhat old-fashioned to me. I think I'd like it better if it was all lace. I know you said you're going for a classic look but I think the satin dress has a timeless style that will allow you to still look classic without necessarily looking dated, does that make sense? Of course ultimately it's whichever you like best that matters!
for the price go with the satin one, i am rescinding my vote. there is not a 1500 difference, i was thinking they were both similarly priced...
Oh wow, at first glance, I LOVE the one with the lace. I think the sweetheart neckline is beautiful on you...definitely a plus! Could you have a sweetheart neckline added to the other dress? The other dress with the hollow to hem INCLUDED is such a great deal...that is usually a pretty expensive alteration (ugh, I had to pay for mine, I was not pleased)! Good luck with your decision!
thanks for the feedback, I'd love more. I think what get's me is that even though it's a "silk taffeta" or something on the lace dress, I love it, it's gorgeous, but I don't feel like $2590. With the Satin dress, it's officially only like $900 + 200 for added length/custom hollow to hem but I FEEL like $2500...
The Satin dress is Allure 8664
Lace Dress is Paloma Blanca 4015 + the cost of bolero + veil
Anyone seen a similar cheaper version of the lace dress? Or know if Paioma make's cheaper versions of their higher end dresses.. i.e. taffeta instead of "silk"
Paloma Blanca has a less expensive line, Mikaella. You may want to check them out. www.mikaellabridal.com.
oh and I forgot to tell you, check out style 1468 on Mikaella. It looks somewhat similar to the style of the Paloma. I also think 1460 is very Audrey Hepburn.
I really like the first dress without the bolero. The second one is pretty but I like the first the best.
I like the one with the lace top. It is so romantic and pretty, yet still classic.
I absolutely love the second dress, but I think both look beautiful on you and can be considered classic!
The dress with the lace top is absolutely stunning! That'd be my choice if I were you.
I usually prefer lace, but I actually like your satin dress the best. It's simple and cleaner looking to me than the other dress. I also think the back of it is fabulous.
