You probably have a few months (at least one!) to keep looking for a used version. How far over budget it is for you?
www.oncewed.com and www.preownedweddingdresses.com are amazing sites! Also check your local Craigslist.
That dress IS gorgeous! Wow!
I think it depends on what your budget is. Are your parents paying for your dress? If so, ask them how they feel about splitting the cost? They can contribute how much they want and then you cover the balance?
That's how I got my mom to agree on our photographer. She didn't want to pay over $2500 on the photography, so I asked her if she would be okay with contributing that much and then letting me pay the remaining $1k balance, and she thought that was a great idea.
Maybe that would work with your mom and dad to get you the dress you love?
I have some really mixed feeling about this, so I know you must be going crazy! First, the dress is very unique, so you'd have to search long and hard to find something like that for cheaper. But if it is out of your price range, it is out of your price range. $1500 is a lot for me too, and I tried on some that were $1300 and I just couldn't do it. Price has totally had an impact on my decision... the cheaper it is the more i love it!
I guess it really depends on what the overall budget is and how much you really love the dress. It might help if you ask yourself if you would purchase the dress for $1500. Which is basically what you would be expecting your parents to do, or you and your parents collectively. No matter who pays, it still costs $1500. If you wouldn't want to spend that much money on it, then your parents probably wouldn't want to either.
Have you looked at dresses that aren't specifically wedding dresses? I will try to find some ideas for you.
You should check out Dolly Couture!

They have a lot of short dresses for under $600. They even do some custom work.
that dress is beautiful! but i understand not having the money in the budget. i'm a short dress bride as well, it's lacey and vintage inspired, and i ended up getting my dress in a little boutique, not a bridal shop. it's still pretty pricey ($550) but i think if you look in the non wedding shops and department stores you'll have a lot better of a chance to find something in your price range.
They just had a Vineyard trunk show in Orlando Florida, they told me it is 10% off the line. May not sound like much, but it does help.
You could also try having it made by a seamstress, of course, get a quote first.
here are some:

nordstrom has some, and I love this one:http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3021343/0~2376776~2374327~6005464~6005465?pbo=3021343&origin=quickView
and I LOVE this dress from Bari Jay. It is actually a bridesmaid dress, but comes in ivory/black.
Actually, 4th row down in the middle on their custom page is a tea length dress with a sweet heart neckline and swiss dots. It has a bright red petticoat and I think it would be gorgeous with the red shoes you are wanting to wear. =)
I understand loving something but if you cna't afford it, you can't afford it. You either have to find a way to afford it or move on. I know it sucks, but that's how life is. There are things I want that I can't afford! And it's poop.
It's a really pretty dress with very simple, gorgeous lines. I BET you could have it made for a fraction of that price. Priscilla dresses are very expensive. If you could get a used one, you'd be golden.
YOu might be surprised at what you end up falling in love with, too. Consider long lace dresses and then having them hemmed, too!
Find out when POB is having a trunk show. They usually offer 10 off and an additional 5% off if you open a POB credit card. The Houston POB is having some sort of special right now (but the dress I love isn't there, so I don't really remember what the deal is exactly).
I have to say, that much money for a short, (albeit, beautiful) dress is a lot, because you have so many non-wedding-labeled and thefore, less pricey options to choose from. Buying a wedding dress is an emotional rollercoaster already, you don't need to feel stressed or guilty about how much you paid. That said, you have options; I would keep looking, and if, a few months pass buy the the guilt of spending that much on a dress will have subsided because you exhausted all other options and it was meant to be.
That is an absolutely gorgeous dress, I can see why you fell for it. Like the pp noted, definitely check out oncewed and preownedwedding dresses. Not sure how much over your budget it is, but I would definitely ask the store if they are having a trunk show soon, which would probably be a 10% discount. Also ask if it will be included in their next sample sale (if that works in your timeline), which would be an even more significant discount. I'd also call multiple stores to see if any others offer it at a lower price. I was able to save hundreds of dollars on mine by doing that. Good luck!
Here is a picture of the one I was talking about from Dolly Couture. As I mentioned, it is a custom one so you would have lots of options to make it exactly what you want. I really suggest trying to go that route.. It seems like you could get pretty much anything you wanted from them at a price much more reasonable than 1500 dollars.
I second Dolly Couture!
I was also a tea-length bride, and I actually purchased a POB bridesmaids dress in white (PB216). I LOVED it, and I felt amazing on our wedding day. But sometimes, I wish I had heard of Dolly Couture before I ordered my dress because I have a hunch I would have done a custom design with her for a more special and fancy dress.
Her dresses are beautiful, vintagey and lovely, and she's SO reasonably priced!
I initially bought a POB dress and then when I received it I was very dissappointed. The dresses in the salons are always top quality, and it seems like the dress they send you is of much poorer quality. I ended up selling mine. Definately look on preownedweddingdresses.com or research a good seamstress in your area. That looks like a very simple dress to make, and it will be a lot less. Good luck.
wow, thanks to everyone for the ideas. I am looking at non-wedding white dresses. I don't know if its my own mental block but none of them seem to be as bride-y as I want them to be, but I am going to keep looking. I am also looking at the used websites, craigslist, etc. and I never even though of a seamstress before so I am going to look into that! i am just glad to know i'm not nuts in my thinking, haha
I actually fell in love with Dolly Couture first but chickened out at the idea of ordering a dress online that I may not really like. They do have some gorgeous dresses though.
Either way I think I need to take a deep breath and explore options. I kind of freaked out because the bridal boutique I looked in told me it takes over 8 months to get the dress and my wedding is only 8 months away, yikes! The problem also with budget is that I technically have a $10,000 budget for the whole wedding, and I could afford the dress under that budget, but every time I mention my wedding in front of my dad he rolls his eyes and complains about money and I just can't bear it and it makes me not want to spend money on ANYTHING at all

So I found my perfect dress. Trouble is, it's over my budget. Actually it's about $1500, which is not a lot for some people, but my parents are financing my wedding and I am really really trying to cut back on spending as they can't really afford to spend much at all. I knew I wanted a short dress, which I thought would save me money and I looked at David's Bridal first and just found nothing. Then I found this dress online: http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=630&sfid=50944
Vineyard Collection- Trish. Wow. I went to a boutique to try it on and it's everything I imagined my dress to be. Short and fun but still made me feel like a bride, a little vintage-y but still funky and casual, like me. I want to wear it with red shoes.
Anyway, now I am thinking I need to look elsewhere for a cheaper dress, even though I love Trish. I was thinking I could look to find a used dress, but I am afraid that the longer I look the less time I have to find another dress or even order this one if I decide its worth the money. I am just stumped as to what to do and I need your help! Should I bite the bullet and buy the Trish? Should I find a new, cheaper dress? Or is there a chance that I will be able to find a used version of Trish in my size?? Where would I even start to look??
