Help me bees!!! I bought my dress went for my first fitting yesterday and I am just not in love with it. I just feel like it’s not enough. I had second guessed myself immediately and I want to love it but I don’t and I don’t want that to put a damper on my day. I want to make my mermaid a dropped waist. I don’t want a large petticoat but I want it to flare out at the mid hip instead of mid thigh. Can they even do that?? Should I leave it?
Also, I have a vicious pooch/tummy that I don’t have in real life (yes I was wearing spanx). The dress is very tight on my ribs too so I don’t know if I can’t suck it in so it’s causing my tummy to puff. What do I do!?
Can I make a mermaid an A-line and how do I fix my puffy belly??

I think it flatters your beautiful figure, you have a normal tummy, but if you’re not comfortable get your seamstress to let it out slightly. Also maybe the belt detail is in slightly the wrong place, it’s a little high – is the belt removable?

This doesn’t help in the slightest but I think you look amazing! Your dress is gorgeous and gives you a great figure.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible for a seamstress to go in that direction, it’s always a lot easier to take something in than let it out. You could ask them to look and see if there is spare fabric, but it’s pretty unusual for there to be more than about an inch or so of room… sorry!

That said, I agree that it looks really nice on you! Your waist looks tiny! If you’re worried about your belly (not that you need to be!) maybe you could try it on with a pair of spanx or something?

I too LOVE that dress on you. I prefer it to the drop waist one. You can ask if they can put in a corset that will loosen it up.
When is your wedding? I bet if you lost maybe 5 lbs at the most doing low carb (usually loses in the stomach area first) it would help so much.

Thanks Bees! I have another fitting tomorrow just to be 100% sure that I want to have it altered as shown. I will discuss letting out the belly (and doubling up on spanx ) but I think I’m puffy because I’m bloated (Ugh, PMS), but I will be around my wedding as well. I am starting to calm down…let’s hope that continues and hopefully I fall in love with my dress again. I was thinking of taking another look upstairs but I already looked at 70+ (yes, 70+!) so I’m not sure what I’m looking for! Say a prayer my brain straightens out and my tummy does too! Will update tomorrow.
