I ordered my dress in Novemeber and it finally is here! I went today to try it on the for the first time and was honestly kind of underwhelmed. I’m just looking for other bee’s opinions and suggestions. I’m hoping that perhaps after alterations I’ll have more of a shape in the dress? I know it’s an a-line and rather full on the bottom (although the sample definitely wasn’t!) but I was hoping to have more of a defined waist. Do you think that will come with alterations? I’m not sure how much altering it really needs, other than an inch or two taken in up at the top and a hem…
Oh, and ignore the weird face. My mom was taking a picture and I didn’t know it! This is the only photo I got today but will make sure to take more when alterations start in a few weeks.
Thanks in advance to everyone who comments!

elw728: I think it will look much better once the bust is taken in to fit you. Pretty dress!

elw728: That dress is gorgeous! I LOVE the lace! I think your waist IS defined. It’s hard to tell from the angle of the photo but it looks to me like the biggest alteration you will need is to have the bust taken in.

Beautiful dress! It should fit perfectly once the top part is altered.

It’s absolutely gorgeous!! Yes, alterations will make a big difference. Mine was shaped like yours and had the same issue. Once my seamstress put more boning in, it fit like a glove and had a very defined shape. Can’t wait to see it once it’s finished–it looks so beautiful!

The dress is beautiful. It’s hard to tell from this picture but it appears to be quite large on you. Alteractions make the dress as far as fit goes. Make sure you tell the seamstress your concerns she’s the one who can make it exactly how you want it. It’s quite amazing the changes that can be made.

Thanks for the reassurance ladies! I actually have a rather defined hourglass figured… my waist is about 2 sizes smaller than my hips… and right now I can’t see that. But surely it will come with alterations.

I’d lower the bust down at least 2 inches – apart from that, that gown is the business for you!
