I suggest cutting out almost all carbs, and really restricting your sodium intake. Also, try to drink 1 oz of water per pound you weight. It's what I do when I need to get bikini ready on short notice and it's work wonders for me. Good luck! But it's only a temporary fix, so you'll have to really up your workouts and pay strict attention to your diet so that you actually get down to the size you want!
I'd suggest only losing weight that you know you can maintain up until the wedding without being miserable. I'd rather be a couple pounds heavier than miserable. The worst thing that could happen is you gain some weight back after your alterations have been done and then you don't fit (or are stuffed) in the dress for your wedding.
They can always take it in again at your second fitting, but you'll probably have to pay for it twice.
What are your trouble zones? Have you looked into body shapers?
MsUerlings: I am cutting all carbs except for fruit, though over the past couple days I had some carbs because I wasn't feeling well. I definitely need to start drinking more water though!
Jacqi: I think I can lose another 5-10 pounds pretty painlessly in the next three months before the wedding... its just that I can't exactly get there by my dress fitting!
My "trouble zones" are my stomach and my love handles. My love handles especially show in my dress because it is form fitting through the hips, and I don't have a butt so the dress is filled on my hips but then flat on my rear end! I know working out will help that a lot but if I can just get smaller all over, that would be nice too!
If you're not getting married for a few months, can you push your fitting back? I agree - don't go beyond what you can maintain. But there really is no trick - it's calories in vs. calories out. I would come up with a calorie intake that's going to get you where you want to be quickly, without starving yourself, count calories and distribute them among balanced food groups.
hmmm, ok. I think you can lose 5-10 lbs in a month if you are serious about it. And in that amount of time you could actually reshape your body, not just drop lbs. So if you could push your fitting back just two more weeks it might make a difference.
If there's no pushing it back, I'd cut out salt, only drink water, and follow a very strict diet and workout plan (and keep a calorie journal). There are some plans on self.com for losing 8 lbs in a month, so that 4 lbs in 2 weeks.
And then there are always spanx :)
Yeah, there's no pushing back :( I bought my dress in my hometown and I'm only going to be there over spring break and a few weeks before the wedding.
I think I am going to do South Beach Phase 1 strictly from here on out... if you stick to it, you can lose about 5 lbs in two weeks. And I definitely have Spanx!
Still, any tips for debloating would be really appreciated! I've heard dandelion tea with cranberry juice works?
My sister wore a belly bearing outfit for halloween and along with diet and workouts, she went to the sauna. This can be very dangerous, so you'd have to be careful, but it slimmed her down that extra little bit.
If you can't push back your fitting and just need ideas for depuffing, drink cranberry juice. (The real stuff, not the stuff with all the sugar). That will help with bloating.
Wear a body slimmer. Don't do drastic weight loss, it will only make you emotional and unhealthy.
As far as two fitting goes, in my experience (from my own wedding and helping with friend's weddings) the first fitting fixes everything, and the second fitting is just to make sure everything's right. So the earlier poster could be right that if they have to go back and fix major things again, you'd have to pay more. You might want to check on that.
Also, you might want to take your measurements with a body slimmer on. For me, they make me look better because everything's firm and in place, but they actually increase my measurements because of the extra bulk of them. Since at this point your probably concerned more with actual measurements, you should check on that.

So my first fitting for my dress is coming up fast, and I am not at all ready as far as my weight loss goes. I have been doing South Beach on and off and have lost 5-7 pounds, but I still have my "trouble spots". I am getting really anxious about how I am going to look in my form-fitting trumpet gown. Anyone have any tips on how to look a little bit leaner quickly? I am upping the ante with my diet and exercise but I am not sure two weeks is enough.
Also, what has your experience been with fittings - did you have one or two? How close to your wedding were yours? The girl at the bridal salon mentioned that I would have two fittings, so I guess if I lose more weight after this fitting, they can take it in more? Or do they do something different at the fitting closer to your wedding?
