When does everyone’s dresses come in? Or have they already? I am a little worried… (No alot!!!) My dress won’t be here until the beginning of August and I have lost 30 pounds since ordering it… I wanted her to order a size 6 but because it was a little snug at the time she would only order an 8!!! NOW IT IS GOING TO SWALLOW ME! I am worried they won’t be able to get it altered in time and what if it looks HORRIBLE??? UGH! Too much stress!

Oh no! That sucks. Maybe you should start looking into back-up seamstresses that have good reputations for getting dresses done asap JUST in case? Would that help alleviate some stress? // By The Way, that’s awesome that you lost weight!

I was told that a dress can go 2sizes down and 1 size up if need be…. You should be ok
Great that you lost the weight wish I could!!!

@Mrs.em2hurley: Don’t worry! Just make sure that you have a seamstress who will be able to work diligently on it if need be. It’s all going to work out!!

Why would they not allow you to order the dress in the size you want? Thats sort of rude.
My dress fitting is july 12th… wedding is aug 18th. But will be leaving for it on the 14th. =D

@lovebugfouts: Because their theory is they can make it smaller but they can’t make it bigger. So the idea was, what if I didn’t lose anymore weight or what if I gained weight… It’s stupid…. But they make a LOT of money off of alterations, so they think the bigger the better! UGH

I just got mine in on Monday, but I think you should be okay. They will just need to be quick on their alterations, but make sure it doesn’t look like a quick job. I hope it works out for you!
My wedding is August 25 and it does not need alterations but a hem and added cups, so I will do that in the next few weeks.

Mine is August 4…I has to push it back, but the place I’m going to works in priority order, so they assured me it’s fine. I’m sure your place will do the same!

I had my dress come in back in December, but I ordered it pretty early. My alterations are also done, because luckily I only needed a hem, bustle, and cups sewn in.
Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll be able to alter it in time and it will look beautiful! Try not to stress! I know it’s hard because I’ve been stress-free throughout the planning until about a week ago, I’ve been stressing hardcore 🙁

My dress came in back in March, and my first fitting is Saturday. I wouldn’t worry, you should have plenty of time.

My dress came in two weeks ago and I had a fitting last week. I don’t need ANY alterations, except the bustle! Thank…..God…..!
My reception/after party dress was from DB, and I’ve had it for months. I’m taking it for alterations on Friday. It needs to be taken in 2 sizes! Yikes. I hope it stays up!

My dress doesn’t come in until the 2nd week in July. I’m a total worrier, so it’s freaking me out. I’ve lost just a little bit of weight, but don’t think it’s going to make a huge difference, especially since it’s a lace-up back (I fit the sample size so I knew the exact right size). The only alterations it should need are a bustle and then the sleeves I’m going to add.

I got my dress second-hand in November, and luckily it needs NO alterations, at all (thank you, 4.5″ heels!). The seamstress for the first ‘owner’, however, forgot to sew one hem–it was pinned, and MY seamstress pricked herself–and, the bustle hooks need to be reinforced, but that’s it.
Here’s hoping everything works out for you with the alterations! *crosses fingers*. How rude that they wouldn’t order the size you wanted!

I have almost the opposite problem. My dress came in early at the end of May so I started my fittings in the beginning of June. After my next fitting which is july 10th I’m pretty sure it will be done. I’m nervous because it will be almost a whole month until my wedding which is august 18th! I’m scared I will lose weight in that last month and my dress will be too big!

My dress arrived in May. I purchased mine online from China (JenJenHouse.com) and it fit the custom measurements I gave them perfectly. The only thing I didn’t like was that the train was longer than it appeared in the photo. Also, I’m rather busty, so the neckline plunged a bit too low. So, I took it to a tailor and she removed the train and then used some of the fabric from the train and added it to the neckline so it’s not too cleavage revealig. I *LOVE* my dress!!!
I finally bought a long line bra to wear underneath it and I love the fit. It’s just perfect. I’ve been working out, but not trying to lose too much weight, just trying to tone up to wear the dress. Luckily, it laces up the back, so if I lose a little, it will still fit right.
42 days to go until the wedding!!!
