This is my first post – so, hello! And, please pardon my desperation! 😉
I am getting married Nov 5, 2011. I am planning the wedding from NC and getting married in MO (long story), so I’m trying to get as much done as I can when my mom / bridesmaids (who all live back home) are in town. SO – this gets me to my story.
When my mom was here over Thanksgiving we went dress shopping kind of on a whim. My budget was <$1,000, and I knew I wanted something simple. Oh, and I’m ‘plus size’ – so the idea of trying on dresses and having them fit already had me stressed. We went to one place that basically ignored us and only had sample sizes 8-10 that I couldn’t imagine would even fit over my left thigh. So, we went to David’s. I was kind of anti-David’s because people are so cruel about David’s itself, and I thought that would rub off on me if I got a dress from there.
BUT! I found one. It was the 4th dress I tried on, and the price was right, so we bought it! I acutally didn’t feel pressured like other people have described – I just thought, “why prolong this? I love this dress, I’m comfortable, let’s do it.”
Well – now I’m freaking out. I feel like I should have tried on more dresses. Has anyone else experienced this?? It’s so illogical because when I look at pics I think, “that looks great!” Others say so too. What should I do?!
Posted a pic below — one thing I’m doing is replacing the flower chiffon flowers in shades of gray from etsy. com to tie in with my bridesmaid’s colors.

Welcome to the bee and congratulations on finding your gown!!!
You look great in it 🙂
I also “freak out” about my dress, but I know I love it and everyone who has seen me in it loves it, so I should not be freaking out. I only tried on 5 gowns and knew my gown was the one as soon as I put it on; however, I do find myself wondering if I should have gone to more salons; I only went to one, and/or tried on more gowns. I know both my FI and I will be happy on the day, but, like you I still have those doubts. Realistically, I think every bride goes through this. It is just part of the process.

I think you made a great choice! I felt exactly the way you’re feeling right now. To be honest, I was freaking out until I finally received the dress. I couldn’t be happier with it though!! If you felt great in it when you were trying it on you’ll probably like it even more once it comes in.

I think you look beautiful. I ordered my dress before seeing pictures of myself in the dress. I have to say, I don’t love how I look in the sample but I definitely loved how I felt. So I’m going to go with that feeling and accessorize how I see fit. And again, you look beautiful. 🙂

That dress looks great on you, you made a great choice! I think most people feel that way at one point or another. Best advice: quit looking at other dresses, magazines with dresses, and posts with dresses.

That dress looks amazing on you 🙂 I think you made an excellent choice. I completely understand the dress freakout, though! I tend to have moments where I think similarly to you. But, I’ve found that looking at my pics of me in my dress help a lot!!!

Oh, I love it! You did make a great choice, so stop doubting yourself! I’m in the same boat as you, thought. I know I have a fabulous dress that looks great on me, but everytime I see another really pretty dress I question my decision.

That dress looks great on you and I love that you’ll be personalizing it a bit with the colored flower. As long as your happy with it and you feel comfortable wearing it, thats all that matters. I suggest not looking at anymore wedding dresses because there will always be something that you think you’ll like more. You made a great choice and you’re going to make a gorgeous bride!

I think that every bride struggles with dress “freak out”, so don’t worry about it. Just try to put it out of your brain. I think that dress is perfect for you and looks like it was made for you.

Girl, I LOVE your dress! I went with the first one I tried on! I think every bride has to have that moment of doubt, but you look awesome.

I think you look amazing, I wouldnt worry about it at all (coming from a big worrier)

Thank you all! I feel much better now. 😀
I am taking all of your wise advice and not looking at anymore dresses! it will be difficult since we’re bridesmaid dress shopping this weekend – but it must be done! Time to move on to the other parts of the wedding 🙂

I also find myself wondering if there are “better” dresses out there…but, that is a bad, bad thing to do. Especially for us budget brides 😉 I think your dress is gorgeous, but more importantly, you shine in it!!! Best of luck with the rest of your planning.

You look gorgeous! You made a great choice, don’t doubt yourself!

First of all…your dress is BEAUTIFUL on you. you look like an angel!
Where at in MO are you getting married? My mom and sisters live in St Joe, MO, and like you I am planning an out of state wedding, so when my mom and lil sis flew in to NC for 3 days to go dress shopping with me…I felt very rushed, like I just had to pick one. I still doubt my dress sometimes but I do not look as good in mine as you do in yours! It really is very flattering on you, stop doubting your decision!! : )
