They both give a different "feel", but I prefer the Casablanca on you. :)
Honestly, would you feel comfortable in the first dress on your wedding day knowing your hubby said he hated it? Plus, I think the 2nd is much prettier! Do you secretly like it more because you posted more than one photo of it? Lol. Im into psychology, can you tell? :P
@ddubzz- You're right, they do give off different vibes/feels. My wedding will be afternoon, with a cake and punch reception, then an intimate dinner with family and Bridal party. It's at a church. This makes it sort of traditional, and not crazy formal. It makes things hard!
@ChantelleyLace- I was waiting for someone to say that! (about me posting more photots of it). It just turns out that I don't have many pictures of the other one, and they all look the same haha. You're right though, I would wonder all day if my hubby was thinking "god she picked the dress with the 'weird explosion of beads'" (That's what he called it).
I keep thinking I want to pic the David's dress because of price. But I know I shouldn't. I am going to check prices on the Casablanca through town tomorrow.
Another question girls: A bridal store owner told me that prices often go up in July. Does anyone know if this is true?
The casablanca dress would be 10% off if my bridesmaids get their dresses at the store, and the store is having a trunk sale in July also. But if the prices go up before the trunk show it'd kind of defeat the purpose....How do trunk sales work?
The second one has way more beading than the first one. If your FI hates beading, won't he hate this one even more?
@Futuremominlaw- he saw both of the dresss. Not on me, but I showed him like six different dresses, so he didn't know which I was actually wondering about. Number two was his fave. He doesn't like the randomness of the beading on the first dress.
They are both so pretty on you! As far as dresses go, I like the style of the first & I think it looks great on you. It's chic, less traditional, and it's not a style you see every day! But wear what you're most comfortable in (and what you're most comfortable spending!).
#1! It's so fresh and modern and fun!! Number 2 looks great on you, but is more traditional.
I'm so confused. An hour ago, I thought I loved the David's Bridal dress more. Twenty minutes ago I had decided on the Casablanca. Now I'm not sure again.
Both are pretty but, I like the Oleg Cassini dress. It's very fresh and modern. ッ
Dress 1! Dress 1! Dress 1!!!
DON'T LISTEN TO BOYS!!!! They don't think about what they say, and they don't really understand clothes anyway.
I saw your thread when you found your dress, and I though you loved it? If your fiance hadn't said that, would you be doubting? I bet he couldn't even pick the dress out again if you asked him to.
I think the Oleg Cassini is stunning, so stylish and elegant, but the other dress just looks old fashioned and a bit blah to me (sorry, honest opinion!)
Personally, I'm SERIOUSLY jealous of your Oleg Cassini, but I wouldn't give the Casablanca wardrobe space. But I'm not you - you have to do what will make you happy.
Dress 2 for sure...I just find that the first dress does nothing for your figure. The second dress just seems to suit your figure much better.
I prefer the David's bridal dress. It's youthful and modern...it makes the other dress look a bit matronly.
They are both beautiful, but I do like the second one better. I think it is very flattering on you!
wow this was a tough choice for me and its not even my dress. I think they both are beautiful, but i picked the 1st dress because of the flowers and design. I hope this helps.
They do both look great, but I personally LOVE the dress from David's. I first spied it on their website shortly after I bought my dress (I wasn't cheating, just scoping out BM dresses!) and now that I see it on you, rather than the model, I have even MORE serious dress envy. LOL. What helped me decide on mine was looking at the pictures. Seeing them in real life was hard because I couldn't put them on side-by-side and compare. So just stare at the pics for awhile and sooner or later, you'll start having fonder feelings toward one over the other... Hope that helps!
In my opinion, the Casablanca blows the DB dress out of the water.
Can you alter the sash in any way on Dress 1 to remove what FH doesn't like? Put a different sash or flower on instead?
I really like #1 :-)
And I think prices MAY go up in July because new lines come out? Not sure. But, if new lines are coming out, then there might be more options in your price point, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
I had a similar dress as you (not really similar but somewhat) for #2 and my alterations were only $100 for a simple bustle, take the dress up and in. The bustle didn't bother me at all and looked really cute I thought, all she did was add a loop at the bottom of the dress and a clear button to hook it to. I'd shop around for alteration pricing or haggle with your store a bit but I like #2 the best
They are both lovely, but it depends what look you want to go for. DB is more modern, and slightly less formal. It's more unique and wins the contest for me. Casablanca is more formal and traditional. If you are that torn, maybe you should do one more shopping trip to try and find a happy medium between the 2.
Either way, do not feel the pressure to get your alterations done at the bridal shop, they are often much more expensive than if you went elsewhere. Shop around for local seamstresses that have good references for bridal work. Mine did a 6-point french bustle for $50.
Also, the casablanca looks like it fits you very well. if it is in good shape maybe go back and offer 75% of the tag price to buy that actual sample dress they put you in.
@WhiteRoseRed- I would not necessarily be doubting the dress if he hadn't said something, but I still wasn't sure which I liked more.
@schwickmar- the pictures do help. I think they are making me lean towards the Casablanca dress.
@Goldilocks-The sash is not a sash really, it's completely attached to the dress, so no changing the flower or beading.
@troubled- I think I would like this dress bustled, the consultant held it up so I could see what it'd look like, but we missed the picture of it.
@troubled and jgrossman- I actually do have the name of another seamstress who is supposed to be reasonable, however after some searching/reseaching last night I found something good- I found a dress shop about 45 minutes from my house (just outside of the KC metro) who includes alterations for free if you order a full price dress. The casablanca dress would be $1130 (ordered to my height) from the salon I tried it on at. At the dress salon 45 minutes away it would be $1148. I think I am going to go to the store 45 minutes away, because alterations will be more than $18 plus tax will be cheaper. I'm super happy with this decision, but just in case I'm going to ponder over the next week to be sure ( I can't get to the other salon until next weekend.)
Thanks ladies!
Thanks ladies. I think I am 90% sure which one I want.... but I'm still a little uncertain. I'm not sure if I should try more on, or just go with my gut.
I love the second one. It is beautiful and its looks beautiful on you.
I think the shape of the Casablanca is far more flattering to your body!
I voted for Oleg Cassini one! I think it looks stunning on you :)

Hey laides. Last week or so I posted a picture of me in a dress from David's Bridal that I love. But... alas I am a girl who researchs and also has to look at options. So I did. I found another dress tonight that I also really like. They have some similarities and some differences, and I can't decide. I am looking for your opinions on how they look on me.
Dress One: The first, from David's Bridal. Oleg Cassini CWG322

Pros: Would need minimal altering, only the top taken in a very very minimal amount. Length is perfect, has no train which I didn't think I wanted. In the budget, even with alterations.
Cons: Fiance saw a picture and hated the beading. I know when he sees whatever dress I choose he wont' even care, but still.
Dress Two: Casablanca 1992

Pros: I actually love the lace, which I didn't think I could. The lace matches my tattoo- I know it sounds odd, but it's true. I like the train with the lace on it. Makes my waist look good. Love sweetheart neckline.
Cons: Will have to get bustle, and possible have the top taken in. Over budget, by a couple hundred once the alterations are in place.
