So, okay… I love my dress, but it literally is about 2 to 3 inches too short. I bought this knowing that, knowing I would add some sort of panel… or something underneath the top layer of satin to make it longer. (I can’t just let out the hem a bit, as the hem does not have that kind of extra fabric, and frankly it’s easier to just add something to the dress.) The question is what is that something?
Ivory tulle? Antique gold tule? Lace? I’m having a bit of difficulty figuring out what to do. I have some time to figure it out, as my appointment for alterations is on April 3rd.
Has anyone had experience extending a dress this way? Either way, what do you think would look best?

I think Ivory Tulle would look the best. Maybe your seamstress will have some ideas as well.

Tulle instead of lace for sure.
I love that look, and my dress is full of it. perhaps also modify the skirt in some ways to make it seem more like it was meant to be that way?

Ivory tulle for sure! That will look gorgeous.

That’s what I thought, too. 🙂

I think since your dress has that side gather already, it would look really natural to add a pick-up there like KLP’s and it will look like part of the design.

Tulle for sure…It will look great with matching veil

A scalloped lace edge would be nice too… not just straight lace though.
