Hey bees, I’m in need of some help. My wedding is drawing nearer (less than six months, oy vey!) and I still haven’t purchased my dress. I need to do so asap, and have planned to go in to town with my mom and one of my bridesmaids on Tuesday and not leave the shop until I’ve decided and purchased my dress, haha.
Anyway, the point of my post is that on my previous trips to look at dresses, I’ve found two that I really like. They’re polar opposites, two different styles and two different designers, and I’m just not sure which to choose! So, I come to the hive for some help!
Dress 1: This one is Alfred Angelo #2228. As soon as I tried it on, I got teary-eyed. My mom, MOH and bridesmaid LOVED it (as well as my fiance, but shh! he’s not supposed to have seen it ;)). Looking at it now though, I’m just not 100% sold. Satin isn’t my thing and it’s more expensive than I was planning to spend.
Dress 2: This one is from David’s Bridal (the consultant didn’t tell me the dress information), and I don’t have pics without the belt/flower, sorry. It didn’t wow any of my bridal party or my mom, but I felt very comfortable in it, loved the taffeta material, and loved the simplicity of the design. The only thing is, it’s cheaply made (hello, David’s Bridal) and there is a very obvious line between the rouched top and the plain bottom that bothers the heck out of me.
I tried both of these dresses on the same day, and at the end of the day was in favor of Dress 1. I’m not sure if my dress regret is only because I’m looking at pictures of me in sample dresses and dress 1 didn’t fit me as well as dress 2… but I’d love your opinions!
Thanks in advance!

I like the first one better too. Not sure why.

I like the first one better as well. I particularly enjoy your face in the second picture! 🙂

I prefer the first one on you 🙂

I like the flowy look of the DB but there’s something about the AA… It looks more fitted, and elegant

I like both but i just love the first one better!!!! 🙂 is it over the budget by a lot? I had a budget and i went over 500 dollars :/ but it really made me happy and it was worth it.

I chose #1: I know it is more expensive, but I think the cost is worth it. It WILL look better in photographs. Also, you always have the option to sell it when the wedding is over. I doubt many brides are looking to buy DB dresses used. Also, the AA one has a lovely train to it that will look great bustled.

@acciotoni: Based on what you wrote, I think you like dress #1 better (so that’s what I voted for). You should pick the dress you like best. They are both very similar in silhouette, so you won’t go wrong with either one.
With my dress experience I was also between an Alfred Angelo (more expensive )and a DB dress (less expensive) when I was deciding on a wedding dress. I chose the AA, but in retrospect, I’m not sure it was worth the extra money.

Number one wins in my opinion! I like the shape around the hips more. My finding is that dresses never look as great in dressing room pictures, so try not to let that influence you! Good luck and keep us posted!

I think the material of n.2 makes it more flattering on you. They both are very similar and both look nice though!

#1! They’re both similar, but for some reason the first one looks more stunning!

No 1….it’s more ‘special’. Having said that, no 2 is perfectly lovely 🙂

I like both dresses. I think #1 is a better choice because it sounds like #2 a safe choice, but not really what you want. Its your wedding get the dress that makes you cry.
